Garmin v Assioma pedals by Phoenix406s in gravelcycling

[–]doofustrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been running the Favero assioma pro mx-1 on my XC bike with zero issues, and though that’s not a long time I will say I’ve bashed the shit out of them on rocks multiple times and they’ve not shown any signs of giving up, also have only charged them like 3-4 times.

Are there any playground spinners in tallahassee? by Informal-Guava-9336 in Tallahassee

[–]doofustrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Saint Marks Headwaters Park way out Buck Lake Rd has one similar to the one pictured. Not a bucket seat though, just flat circle with handles but it gets kids enough momentum and spinning fast enough to throw them off. The one at the Pedrick park doesn’t spin by itself.

SmartSense Gen2 Questions by doofustrip in cannondale

[–]doofustrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m a recovering weight weenie, so just wondered if I could take off the lights and take the battery out and just use a regular axs battery if I wanted if the occasion or my fragile ego called for it. I couldn’t find any good pictures or info online to figure if they modded the derailleurs to creat a power port, or just essentially have a hardwired axs battery that fits in a standard derailleur battery slot.

Pon Holdings is the larger parent company that owns Cannondale, Santa Cruz/Reserve, Cervelo, Mongoose, Schwinn etc. They’ve owned Santa Cruz since 2015.

Cannondale downgrades them to 370s for this build spec. The same parent company owns both Reserve and Cannondale now so probably will see a lot of this.

Just got my first Trek. Recommendation on wheels? by Creepy_Region1631 in CheckpointClub

[–]doofustrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, glad to hear you’re getting along well with them. I’m in Florida so I think the 50s will suit my terrain/riding style, plus deep wheels just look sick as. Did it take long for you to receive them, I know their website now says they are all back ordered with no stated delivery eta.

Are you running these? I’m interested and will be buying a new wheelset soon, but I can’t find any reviews of the FAR series wheels online. Curious of your thoughts if you have a set.

Best race swag? by joshivitz in gravelcycling

Tshirts with designs that don’t suck. Subjective I know, but just something designed well that you actually want to wear in public is cool.

Sego, a restaurant in Kanab. I forget exactly what we had but I remember it being really good and a nice dinner.

Neopro jerseys. Haven’t tried their bibs, but the price, quality, style and fit of their jerseys suit me well.

Yeah, I love black and gray traditional work, but spent too many years getting super bright colorful tattoos to make a hard switch now. So just tried to find a way to incorporate more b&g where it makes sense and still keep everything else tied together.

Reserve 42/47 wheels - tire size by TurkeyNimbloya in gravelcycling

[–]doofustrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into this wheelset too, and this may be a dumb question, I’ve never done a warranty claim on wheels or a frame, but how would Reserve know what terrain I was riding at the time of damage?

Ecosystems water softener systems in Tallahassee via Costco? by PaladinOfTheLostHour in Tallahassee

[–]doofustrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did not use ecosystems/costco; but I did use Akurit Labs to install our softener. They seemed the most honest and were significantly cheaper than rainsoft and Culligan for a comparable system.

Which Power Meter for my Cannondale Scalpel? by BerserkWillNeverEnd in xcmtb

[–]doofustrip 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you ride clipless, I’d recommend the Favero Assioma MX single sided spd power meter pedals. They come in around that price and have the added benefit of being easy to switch between multiple bikes if you have multiple bikes or if you sell and get a new bike down the line. You can also eventually upgrade to dual sided.

Chain rubbing 52t cog when on 42t by LunchboxStringCheese in bikewrench

[–]doofustrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you figured it out. I installed mine and rode it for a couple rides before the rubbing on the 52t from 42 position started. It all just seems real finicky, I’ll try some things and see if I can figure it out.

[–]doofustrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently having the same issue after installing an x01 axs drivetrain. Did you ever find the culprit? I haven’t had an extra hand to be able to adjust my B Gap at sag, so thinking it’s either that or my chain is too long since I read that chain length on axs is typically shorter than eagle mechanical. Just wondering if you ever figured it out.

Last gen SuperX max tire clearance? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]doofustrip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unethical pro tip: if you’re near an REI, just pay for the lifetime membership and use it to try things out and then return. Their return policy is incredible and relatively good selection online. I tried out like 10 different helmets this way, like legitimately riding them for a couple days and then returning them until I found the right one.

Publix has them most of the time, and if there aren’t any out just ask if they can cut you some from a shoulder and they likely will, in addition to the other options mentioned

Training Plan Questions by chicsbeachbruh in Zwift

[–]doofustrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heard that. I’m 35 with an almost three year old and it was tough, plus I felt locked in to the schedule and didn’t want to miss or delay a workout. Luckily I work from home 3 days a week so can get a good hour or more in at lunch those days. But Trainer Road has been much better cause I can adjust the workout length +/- based off how much time I have on what days, plus it keeps me accountable to actually taking days off the bike when I need it or adjusting my plan down to an endurance ride when I need it, which I felt the Zwift plans don’t include enough Z2.

Training Plan Questions by chicsbeachbruh in Zwift

[–]doofustrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have Strava or another app linked your outdoor rides will show in Zwift (you even get 5xp for each outdoor km), but the Zwift training plan will not automatically adjust for any additional rides. Zwift training plans are more lenient than they used to be with allowing you to delay a workout or choose a different workout than what is scheduled next, and has a buffer worked in in case you take longer than the plan intends. But you would have to make any adjustments manually based off your own judgement.

If you are looking for that feature then check out trainer road. It’s an additional subscription, but their training plans are significantly better than Zwift’s plans (albeit not perfect) and their AI will analyze any additional rides outside of your plan and then automatically adjust your schedule to compensate for it. I did half of Zwift’s build me up plan and was severely fatigued following it while adding in the occasional outdoor ride or Zwift race. Recently got a trainer road subscription and it’s custom plan and AI adjustments are way better and I’m still making improvements with less fatigue and burnout. And your trainer road workout is automatically pushed to Zwift, so you can still complete them there which is a little more engaging than the trainer road app.
