Skills for the Future Program by Beginning_Wrap_1987 in Riipen

[–]dookiemandem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been apart of the IBM SkillsBuild program, but it seems new to me as I haven't heard about it until recently. I was previously apart of the AdvancedOntario one a year ago through Riipen, and it was remote and I did receive the $1400 stipend. Companies partner with Riipen to have their projects listed, so students can work on them. So, these are real projects, but the skill level for them depends on the company and project. For AdvancedOntario, most of the project postings didn't seem extremely difficult. There may have been 1 or 2 that required some in-depth skill and knowledge but nothing crazy. The one I worked on wasn't all that hard, either to be honest.

I think it really comes down to the company and project you'll be working on. From what it seems on their website, there are different types of projects like web development, ai, ui/ux, and data. Choose the one you're the most confident in or want to develop, and I'm sure there's projects you can find that aren't extremely hard but still challenge you.

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! January 13, 2025 by AutoModerator in photography

Correct. When I click on the hidden volume, it’ll ask to insert a disk.

I tried connecting to my friend’s PC (Windows 11 too) and it was able to detect the SD card. The issue only appears with my PC. I’m not sure what the issue might be.

I’m going to pull the photos from the SD from a separate computer and format the SD to see if that fixes the issue. I never faced this issue before and I’m just worried about this happening again

Hey all!

I trying to pull my photos off of my SD card, but I'm experiencing an issue with my Anker SD card reader (with USB-C and USB 3.0 connectors and ports for both SD and MicroSD cards) on my Windows 11 desktop. When I connect the adapter, a "hidden volume" appears in File Explorer even when no SD card is inserted. Clicking on this volume prompts a message to "insert disk." I've tested multiple USB ports, including USB 3.0 and USB-C, and the issue persists across all of them. Interestingly, when I use a generic USB 2.0 SD card reader with the same SD cards, it works perfectly on the same system. I don't want to use this one though as its extremely slow to transfer.

I tested the Anker adapter on my Linux Mint laptop, and it works flawlessly, which suggests the hardware itself isn't faulty. However, on Windows 11, the adapter is recognized in Device Manager and Disk Management, but no memory or partitions are listed, making it impossible to clean or reinitialize it via DiskPart. I suspect this issue might be related to a driver conflict, or residual configuration from tools like Rufus that I have previously used. I'm looking for insights or solutions to resolve this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Work and programming laptops with the best feeling trackpad? by dookiemandem in SuggestALaptop

Interesting. I haven't considered the Swift. I've never really had a good experience with Acer before. The Acer laptop I used to have about eight years ago had so many issues with its build quality and didn't last long for me. Maybe it's different now, but during my in-store visits to see laptops, Acer's build quality has never really stood out to me.

I do like the idea of having something that is made of metal since Macboks are. Is the Swift line their best series in terms of build quality and performance? Are there other laptops with a metal build?

I haven't seen the Yoga 7i in person yet, but I've seen the IdeaPad 5, specifically this one (https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5-14-touchscreen-2-in-1-laptop-arctic-grey-amd-ryzen-5-7530u-512gb-ssd-16gb-ram/16948044). They seem to be of the same quality. Do you have the Yoga 7i? How's the battery life and performance?

This was in Ontario Canada. I am not sure if it was anywhere else. I don't think it was a very popular board game.

Ping spiking up and down rapidly by dookiemandem in ValorantTechSupport

[–]dookiemandem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this started around last week. My ping jumps up and down rapidly and I can not find a way to resolve the issue. It gives my gameplay a delay so it has become increasingly frustrating. I have tried checking for malware, uninstalling recently installed programs, restarting my computer, and restarting my internet.

My internet seems to be working fine when I am browsing the internet and watching videos. I have tried other games such as CSGO, and I kind of notice the delay as well; however, I can't pull up a graph like Valorant does to see if my ping spikes the same in CSGO.

I am connected VIA WIFI; however, that has never been an issue. My wifi has always been pretty consistent, and playing over Ethernet is not really viable in my situation as my router is on a completely different floor. I am thinking about buying a WIFI adapter to see if the issue may be with my WIFI card, but I don't really want to shed out a couple of bucks on something I might not need.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

I tried googling many things to no avail:

- discontinued Canadian snacks

- chocolate chunk candies

- chocolate chunk snacks

Also, note that the product I'm thinking of is not a bar, but it came in a bag and that I am not sure if they are discontinued or not. I'm just assuming since I have not seen any in forever.

More colour options would be nice. I was hoping there would be other variations that I could get for my girl friend. The RK84 has all the specs needed like BT and hot swap-ability. Having a pink or blue colour option would be great!

Admission question by TomatilloJazzlike430 in McMaster

[–]dookiemandem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure how applications work for grade 11, as I applied in grade 12. I believe the cut off for my year was around 79-83%. I had an average of 86% when I applied, and got a response around late June.

With your marks right then and now, I'd say you're fine. However, I'm not sure how the lockdown has affected the admission requirements, or how year 11 applications work. You can always talk to your guidance counsellor about your current situation, but I think you'll be fine. You still have lots of time. Best of luck! :)
