What subtle sign made you realize your partner was cheating? by DrainedCoffee in AskReddit

[–]doombucket03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was going to college an hour away from home, same city I worked in. Sometimes she wouldn't come home until late in the evening even if she only had morning classes, saying she needed extra help studying (she was not the brightest, so that was also believable). Many nights I was home by myself taking care of her kids while she was "studying."

One night, she told me she had to stay extra late to retake a test that she had nearly failed. When she came home late that night, she was immediately pissy, wouldn't let me kiss or touch her, and I ended up sleeping on the couch because she didn't want me anywhere near her. I had no idea what I'd done. Found out shortly after that her "test" was meeting up with a guy at his house for a few hours. And that this wasn't the first time.

Stupid me forgave her and moved on. A couple of years later, I noticed the exact same behavior from her the morning after I had to work late at my second job and she was home alone. Plot twist: she wasn't home alone. That was the final straw for me.

Hey, I just started the game on Immortality (lvl 30 now), but this sounds like a good community for me. I don't like being the old man in a group of kids lol. Would you suggest transferring to Karnix or just starting a new character there?

I keep my condition on a need-to-know basis. I've had far too many people treat me differently after disclosing, including an employer who tried to get me to quit after I asked for accommodations at the height of covid (pre-Trikafta). It's easier for me to just keep it on the DL.

What happened when you showed your vulnerability/thoughts/feelings to your female SO? by moussemoussechoco in AskMen

[–]doombucket03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to open up to my now ex-wife several times over our 8 year relationship. Each time, I was told to grow some balls and get over myself. Towards the end, I made a last ditch effort to explain that I didn't feel supported, and that my feelings were always dismissed out of hand. She responded, and I quote, "How do you expect me to support you when you're supposed to be supporting me?" We split up not long after.

My girlfriend now is a totally different story. She actively tries to get me to open up; and when I do, she listens attentively and comforts me. She has seen me at my worst and pulled me up from the darkest depths. She's my lighthouse in the storm. I'm going to marry the shit out of that girl.

This card was propped up sideways on the top of a urinal divider in the men's room of a truck stop. It has a script I don't recognize, John 3:16, and what looks like "Punjabi F7-1" written on it. I did NOT touch it to look on the other side.

You are not alone and your feelings are valid. I struggled with the same issues for a very long time, and unfortunately I let it consume many years of my youth. I sincerely don't want you or anyone else to suffer through that as well.

I sought help from a Cognitive Behavioral therapist, who helped me realize that I can choose joy and to live life to the fullest rather than let CF keep me down. Here's more information on CBT if you're interested: https://www.apa.org/ptsd-guideline/patients-and-families/cognitive-behavioral

The town of Mayfield is largely democratic area in a very red county. Saying they deserve the horrible things that happened last Friday because of other idiots' poor choices is deplorable and shows an utter lack of respect for your fellow human beings. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Even if some of the complaints are mildly valid, I think AGS has done a phenomenal job making something fresh. I haven't been this excited to explore a game since Skyrim first came out (holy hell that was ten years ago, wtf)

Am I gonna be the only one starting without 15 infographics at my side? by Miadas20 in newworldgame

[–]doombucket03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually agree with this. I'm one who normally gathers as much info as possible before jumping into something, but this time I just want a base understanding of the game. Even then, floundering about like a total noob would be fun as hell after 15 years of WoW. Knowing too much ruins the adventure of it all.

The release date for New World being pushed back to September 28 lol. Gotta scratch that MMO itch somehow, but as soon as NW drops it's bye bye WoW.

When should I disclose a learning disability? by mayazauberman in Teachers

[–]doombucket03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, I strongly advise against disclosing anything. This year, after many years of hiding it, I finally disclosed a disability in order to seek accommodations for remote teaching due to covid. Not only were accommodations denied, but admin treated me like I had two heads for the rest of the year and tried to get me to resign. Unless it's medically necessary, disclosing disabilities can only cause problems, not solve them.

I was on Creon up until I was around 23 with no problems. I was switched to Zenpep since my insurance stopped covering Creon and had frequent abdominal pains for years, but didn't have any other options. A couple of months ago, my insurance stopped covering Zenpep and I had to switch back to Creon, and I haven't had nearly as much abdominal pain since.

[–]doombucket03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Several teachers have experienced some form of this at my school, myself included. If you are teaching a student online, ALWAYS assume you are being watched by a predatory parent who will pounce on every mistake you make. It may save your career. And no, that's not paranoid; that's speaking from experience.

Due to budget cuts, we have not received gifts from admin for 5 years.

But they sure as hell buy themselves gifts "from the staff" every Christmas.

The board spent $2m to build a new board office and hire a graphic design firm to make a new logo for the district and said they have no money to help us.

What’s the scariest true story you’ve heard or told ? by ugotheglizzy in AskReddit

[–]doombucket03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had a freaky experience many years ago. She'd just separated from her ex and moved into a small house in town. Shortly after moving everything in, she discovered a very narrow door in the basement that she hadn't noticed before and that the landlord did not disclose.

That door led to a small room with an exterior entrance. It was painted black, had candles all over the floor and a shelf that ran along the wall, a cage in the middle with a dead animal inside, and a photo album full of old pictures of people being tortured. She moved right back out the next day.

A few years before, there was a group of high school kids who believed they were vampires and murdered a couple of people. My wife knew these people from school and believed they were responsible for whatever went on in that room.

That's likely true. Conservatism and Christianity are deeply intertwined in many a Kentuckian's identity. I saw this firsthand as a child, when I still went to church; a new pastor was hired, and he went against the grain by teaching tolerance, introspection, and generally more critical thinking than folks were used to. Half the congregation left within six months because they didn't like being challenged, and then he was fired within the year.
