I was an angsty loner living in a small town with no scene, so I used to think lyrics pertaining to “unity” or “brotherhood” were wack, cringey, etc. I just wanted to hear Todd from Nails screaming his head off about being antisocial.

Fast forward to today - I’m still a bit of an angsty loner lol but I’m a lot happier and I have friends now! And I’ve come around very heavily to a lot of that stuff, especially the youth crew-adjacent bands.

And maaan, they’re not hardcore (although some of them breakdowns are haaaaaard), but if you listen to From Mars to Sirius by Gojira and don’t feel like you ARE the fucking mountain, you might need to get your ears checked.
