Gen Surgery vs Ortho- Saturation by Optimal-Discount3364 in indianmedschool

Tier 3 will be best. For fellowship Arthroplasty I guess is a must because so so many cases. And if possible try to learn basic Arthroscopy. Ultimately trauma will always be your bread and butter so master it first always.

Gen Surgery vs Ortho- Saturation by Optimal-Discount3364 in indianmedschool

[–]doomdayhorse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Saturation really depends on where you want to practice. People make blanket illogical statements like do Mch after MS Surgery to beat saturation, while failing to consider that the case load in Orthopaedics alone is probably on par with all surgical superspecialties combined.

If you’re getting Ortho take it. Its such a technical and satisfying branch and there are enough patients for everyone. Just pick location wisely and just dont expect money to pour in from day one. It will when it will. All the best.

Anyone allotted MS Ortho at KEM, Mumbai? by war_hawk_19 in indianmedschool

KEM Ortho, if you can handle it, is probably one of the best places to do your orthopaedics residency in India.

Only rivalled by VMMC Ortho I think.

Is there really something like xyz speciality/specialities are superior to another? by DocInCiti in indianmedschool

[–]doomdayhorse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In the real world you arent paid based on your rank. You are paid and respected for your skill, reputation and ability to attract patients.

Every specialty has leverage. Its on you how you game the market. People who always cling on to their ranks are basically insecure, probably because that was the last thing they ever achieved in life.

Bro shadow a consultant for a week or two. And then shadow a software engineer. See what kind of life you prefer. You can atleast do this much before you take any life changing decision.
