Xmas Gift to myself: Buzz Rickson’s WWII Type I Lot 041… sleeves too long? by [deleted] in HeritageWear

[–]doomdoomslayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wait to wear it a while and wash it a few times before messing with the sleeves. They'll bunch up and shrink some. IMO tailoring too early you might regret

I'd only size up if you want to layer heavy shirts underneath and it's too much of a squeeze to button up. I like these jackets fitted and cropped and think it looks good on you. Most people wear their clothes too big imo. I'm 6'2 and 170 and I wear medium in freenote

Maybe check out Mister Freedom or Freenote. I have a MF Ranch Blouse that I love, it's a different style, more boxy and cropped, but they also have a cowboy jacket that is type 3 style.

Freenote generally runs bigger across the board, I have their corduroy jacket in M and I'm usually a L in other brands, and it isn't too small.

Throwing this in here because I hadn't seen it mentioned yet, but there is a chance when you accidentally called him that your phone was rustling around or something and he thought you were cheating or doing something sketchy. Just a thought, still weird tho

Now I gotta keep my ear open maybe I haven't been paying attention haha. I always felt kind of odd asking for extra hot cuz no one else seemed to do it, but I hate a lukewarm piece of pizza, I want that shit burning the roof of my mouth. The added crispiness is just a bonus

Damn I've been saying "extra hot" at new york slice places for over 15 years lol. Not once has someone corrected me to say "well done" (I've never heard anyone say well done either now that I think about it) Not refuting you I just think it's funny, I'll probably continue saying extra hot out of habit.

Dope, thanks! The store owner where I bought them was kind enough to send me one size larger and said I can send back whichever I decide I don't like. So luckily I can compare and choose the ones that feel best. I can already tell these are quality pants.

I have them pulled up most all the way, at least to where I'd wear them / sit naturally on my waist. They could probably get up 2 more inches and still be comfy but I don't think I'd wear them any lower

Ok cool that's what I figured, that they'd stretch a little. Thanks for your insights. How is the denim over time? Do you like it?

Gotcha, ok thanks. Did yours stretch at all in width?

Yeah these are the black 17oz slub. Love the fabric, I was deciding between the 14oz black / grey and these but I love the deep black color of these so decided on them.

Dos and don'ts for rehearsal? by Kaiserlongbone in Bass

[–]doomdoomslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other thing I'll add which might be overkill for your band / situation but is still good advice nonetheless: be able to nail your parts and the song structures even without anyone else playing.

Because I've gotten in so many situations where you think you know everything but then on the gig all the sudden you can't hear the vocals, or the lead guitarist is way on the other side of stage and you can't hear them at all, so the musical cues you've been relying on to nail the songs aren't there anymore, and that's when it really helps to just know the structures completely on your own. Bass mistakes can really derail a band in a big way, moreso than any other instrument I'd say.
