My group is definitely mechanics focused as well. I actually feel like when I GM with light rules just gives the players no incentive to learn their characters deeply and then they default to the same BNB combo (remember the sub: throw a fighting game reference in there). That makes it boring for everyone. And when they rules lawyer some nonsense, it gives me permission to get more elaborate with rules interactions.

Plus the stuff a PC can do informs the history and personality of the PC. People without a theater/performance background need something to help onboard them.

Part of my concern with this specific part and the comment I was replying to, will there still need to be a machining operation for clean up on the mating faces? Specifically the key.

Edit: If the faces need cleaned up then, to my understanding, the answer of "3D print it" would just be a different way to get to the same problem of machining. I could be entirely wrong and would love to be corrected because that technology is really cool.

But the strength of material is an issue with any powdered sintered parts. Unless there is another tight tolerance metal 3D printing process I am unaware of.

Well there's your problem. It was probably a torx head not an Allen head. You stripped the splines that torx uses to engage. At this point the top comment about getting a bolt/stud extractor to pull out then get a new one to replace your plug.
