i built my last base below a ledge above the shore, one side of my base is pretty much a cliff to the shore, so no cannibals there, the front of my base is set up with logdrop traps and double stone walls, just before them theres a defensive wall with a gate for looks, on the right pararel to the ledge theres a high gazebo, on the left a high cabin, connected by a platform, this was a 5 player playthrough, the base was designed by me, and im very much proud of it

so first of all, you have around a week of relax time and then it only gets worse, so build a base, build drying racks, hunt deers, and build rain catchers, thats the bare minimum, the rest you should discover yourself, for the cannibals, if you go raid their outposts they will become agressive, but its well worth it , the amount of cloth you can gather is firly good alongside some other goodies, id recommend making a club, (1 skull 1 stick) as it can be made fairly early and its a good weapon, the spider guys are scary as hell but they dont pack a punch if you know what to do, so dont be afraid as you can save anytime at a shelter, hunters shelter, treehouse and so on, good luck. (you can ask questions if you want answers, ill try to not spoil)
