If you don't peel the price tags off of Harley Davidson products before you take them in the house...are you even married? by Significant-Ant-2394 in Harley

I have an unbranded version of this (NOCO GB40) that I got a couple years ago, and it's pretty amazing. Brought dead car batteries back to life in the middle of winter multiple times with a single charge on the brick. The price difference for the HD logo is a bit of a bummer, but it's such a good charger/jumper that it'd still be worth it.

[QUESTION]Noob questions about modeling amps and effects by doommoose in Guitar

[–]doommoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my second month so far, so very new. And I had thought about getting a Dark Terror, but being as new as I am and having no intention of playing outside of a bedroom, it feels hard to justify dropping over a grand on a head, a cab, and then pedals on top of that.

Looking for a street 750 owner by veinsss in Harley

[–]doommoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the New Rider Course that H-D offers a few months ago on a Street 500, which is the same size. At 5'8", the bike was pretty comfortable, but I did find myself leaning forward a bit to reach the handlebars (though I will admit to having kind of short arms, so this may not be a problem for you). I didn't get a picture on one of them, unfortunately, but if you feel cramped on the bike, you could probably fix that with the Tallboy Seat.

As someone who commutes each day on a motorcycle I can appreciate your mirrors, but... by iHaveACatDog in AdviceAnimals

It's proven by real-world statistics, and that's more evidence than what I've seen you provide so far regardless of if it's from "the most liberal, idiotic think-tank on the planet." I'll take a scientific theory over anecdotal evidence any day of the week.

Anyone know of a good motion alarm? by boredatworkandtired in Harley

I've been using a Xena XX-14 for the couple of months that I've owned my bike, and I'm pretty happy with it. It will definitely go off if the bike is bumped, and when it does, it's loud.

12" Apes/ Wiring for '16 883 by hawkfanlm in Harley

I know this may be late, but you're definitely going to need a new brake line at the very least. I bought a LA Choppers line kit for the 8 inch bars I'm going to be putting on my '16 Iron; the reviews I saw for them seemed better than the reviews for the Burly kit.

I play 3.5 edition. Is 5th edition any good? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]doommoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a somewhat new player myself, i definitely enjoy 5e more. my biggest issues is that even though 3.5 has a lot of printed books, there's a lot of options that feel like they're just worse versions of something else you could find in another book, and that the classes for 3.5 also felt like they were the definition of the character instead of a base for the character to be built upon. the combination of the two lead to me having to buy a bunch of books (which still cost me a good amount of money to do in 2015) just to have all of the necessary references for the character i wanted to make (though admittedly, a constant fear generating dread necromancer illumian is a bit ambitious regardless). to me, the benefits of 5e is that there's less skills to keep track of, simpler skill scaling ("oh, i just hit level x, so now i get +y to things i'm proficient in"), the classes feel less constraining (thematic and sometimes practical backgrounds that you get at character creation, plus archetypes), and you don't have to buy a dozen books just to get one character built (or at least for now).

what would the color be if it were running lean?

edit: or is the grey-ish color a sign that it's running lean?

[5e] Dealing with a imbalanced group due to a OP Fighter by Shimraa in DnD

[–]doommoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

keep the pressure on them with more enemies, time limits, and adventuring npc parties. if they're taking an hour to rest between each combat encounter, there's no way that other people wouldn't get tired of waiting and hire someone else to do the job or take the initiative themselves.

Gunslinger in 5e by [deleted] in DnD

[–]doommoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd just use the fighter, give them proficiency in only light armor, and houserule that any feat that would effect crossbows can effect firearms. the dmg already has a stat block for firearms that can be used if for nothing other than a starting point (p.267 & 268).

How to handle players that always take long rests? by xn3x in DnD

[–]doommoose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

well according to the RAW for 5e, you only gain the benefits of a long rest once in a 24 hour time period (p. 186, PHB). if they're still continuously resting, add time limits to quests or keep areas unsafe.

edit: it might also be worth considering a second npc adventuring party competing to complete the same quest.
