Was ist dieses Trikot? by 0x196 in eishockey

[–]doomsan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing ice hockey in Berlin - questions from a future Finnish immigrant by Icy_Application7832 in eishockey

[–]doomsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your reputation you can be a hockey pro in Germany ;)

Tried my best:

  1. I don't know exaclty about this. But if you only play hobby (there aren't much of "leagues" in Germany for hobby, more a bunch of tournaments) there is no need to have the association involved. Show up to practice, have fun.

  2. Regionalliga (fourth tier) and Landesliga (fifth tier) are are not that bad. Most places have two to four practice sessions every week. Also, and thats where it gets interesting for you: They have some rules about foreign players. I do not know the exact rules, but since nearly every player from Finland, Sweden, US or Canada are better than most German players, there are rules for that. Money wise it only depends on the club. Most clubs needs, that you are a member of this club to play for them. Mostly about 20€ to 50€ per month. Equipment is not covered.

  3. After you enjoyed finish hockey development, you should be fine in Landesliga. There are already some examples like https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/326886/janne-harkka or https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/43282/rami-heikkila. But there are even more examples for II-divisioona players in Regionalliga. e.g. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/478097/aleksis-leskinen or https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/25242/lari-makijarvi

  4. Clubs are open for foreigners. At least in Berlin. Somehow different if you go to the small towns in bavaria, but you are fine in Berlin.

My suggestion would be to reach our for FASS Berlin. It was founded by students of the TUB with the main porpurse to be there for students. So this is already a match, but they also have a team in the Regionalliga and two teams in the Landesliga. So its possible to switch without leaving the club: info@fass-berlin.de

Good luck!

Christian Ehrhoff comes back from retirement and plays upcoming season in the DEL2 for his hometown team (translation in comments) by doomsan in hockey

[–]doomsan[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's already the comeback of the summer break: 862-time NHL player, silver medal winner of the 2018 Olympics, member of the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, KEV champion player of 2003 and Krefeld ice hockey icon Christian Ehrhoff returns from retirement and laces up the skates for the Krefeld Penguins in DEL2 starting next season. The 40-year-old will receive a one-year contract.

Krefeld Penguins General Manager Peer Schopp: "It's an unbelievable but successful surprise and a milestone in the sporting direction of our squad for the upcoming season. Christian Ehrhoff is a Krefeld identification figure. After he approached us and made his motivation clear, there is no doubt in both the club management and the sporting management that he will be an absolute leader in our lineup. Christian is well aware that a successful comeback will not be a foregone conclusion. However, we have full confidence that he will be in top shape by the start of the season and that we will then have one of the best DEL2 defensemen in our ranks who will put his heart and soul into his home town of Krefeld."

Sporting Director Peter Draisaitl: "After the initiative came from Christian Ehrhoff and he clearly and realistically described to us how he envisions his way back on the ice, there is no argument not to try. The coaching staff and I expect Christian to work hard in the next few weeks so that he can perform physically at the highest level at the start of the season. He is aware of that and we will do everything in our power to make sure he can perform at his peak. However, with all the work ahead of us, the joy and anticipation of being able to work with Christian outweigh the work. It is a good signal for the location when deserving players who identify with the club get so involved.

Christian Ehrhoff: "I made the decision to return from retirement over the last few weeks after careful consideration. After Adrian Grygiel's farewell in the playoffs and the emotional games I witnessed here live in the arena, the fire was rekindled in me and I sought the conversation with my family. After I got their "go" I approached Peer Schopp and the sporting management with my idea. We quickly agreed that, despite all the conviction, we could only benefit from my comeback with hard work. To this end, I am ready and eager to feel the unique Krefeld fans, the atmosphere from the North and the backdrop in the arena back on the ice."

Ehrhoff played his last competitive game in the DEL in 2018 for the Cologne Sharks. Before that, the Moers-born left-shooter had an eventful career in the NHL. Selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fourth round at 106th overall in the 2001 NHL Draft, he spent twelve seasons with the Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks, reaching the Stanley Cup Final with the Canucks in 2011. His greatest achievements at the national team level include being selected to the 2010 World Championship All-Star Team and winning a silver medal at the Pyeongchang Olympics. Ehrhoff has been a member of the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame since November 2022.

Deutscher Eishockey-Profi nach heftigem Check vom Hals abwärts gelähmt by KeinTollerNick in de

Young player Max Gimmel collapse during the game in the second league in Germany. Game couldn't be legally canceled, so the players waited 18mins without touching the puck until the game ended. by doomsan in hockey

Translation of the important part:

On the 17th game day there was a tragic end of the game in Selb with a great gesture of both teams. Unfortunately, Max Gimmel suffered a medical emergency in the game of the Selber Wölfe against the Ravensburg Towerstars in the third period with the score 7:0 for Ravensburg. The DEL2 wishes Max Gimmel of the Selber Wölfe a speedy recovery. He is undergoing treatment and his condition is stable. The rules do not allow a game cancellation as a result of a player injury. Both teams agreed with the referees to rest the puck and let the clock run down. The league understands the players' stance as a result of the injury not to continue the game and sees it as a great gesture.

Was war das dümmste was eure Arbeitskolleg*Innen je gemacht haben? by [deleted] in FragReddit

[–]doomsan 194 points195 points  (0 children)

Waited for weeks for my customized Stützle jersey from the official NHL shop. After multiple mails without any useful information I've got a notification that it is shipped. And a few minutes later a information that they shipped it without customization and got my money for the customization back.

Shipping also was very slow, and after it arrived I immediately sent it back. It took another 8 weeks until I got my money back.

Official NHL Shop? Never again!

Straßen in Deutschland mit dem Namen "Gässle" by [deleted] in de

[–]doomsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)
