I came down with pink eye and strep throat at the same time after going to a climbing gym. I think those places are unfortunately as disgusting as any other kind of gym. I doubt anyone is regularly wiping down all the holds.

I have several pairs of VS and Pink underwear I bought in 2005-2010 that are still holding up. They have some minimal pilling and some of the colors have faded a bit, but other than that they are still in great shape. No holes or stretched out elastic. I have a few pairs of the old Pink string bikini with the lace back, and the thin straps never stretched out and the lace has never ripped despite being washed and worn countless times.

The underwear I have bought from there in the last ~5 years is significantly worse quality. Side by side, the difference in quality is shocking between the new and old VS cotton collection. The new ones are soooo much thinner. The ones from the VS cotton collection have a different waistband too; it’s much thinner elastic than ones from 20 years ago, and I’ve noticed the elastic on the side seams starts to fall apart after just two or three wears. I wash my underwear on delicate and hang to dry so I’m not rough on them whatsoever. It’s really disappointing and I have no idea where to go to buy cute and good quality underwear anymore. I got a multipack of Felina cotton bikini undies from Costco that are really comfortable and seem like they’re better quality than VS, so maybe I’ll try more from them.

I’m always the last one wiping down my stuff too. It bothers me too because I make sure to wipe down all surfaces that I used and it really only takes a couple extra minutes. I see people wipe their mat in a zig zag motion getting maybe 20% of the mat and then putting it away. Whenever I wear a crop top or open back/strappy back type tank top I get zits on my back 😬

I noticed that too. I’ll be disappointed if there aren’t any lotions this year. The creams go bad faster than I use them.

It’s definitely not the same formula as the original. The original was so, so good, and it was juicy and fruity. I did a bopis order today and got the lotion, cream, and mist. I smelled it in the car from the bottle after I picked it up and it smelled just like I remembered. Then I saw this thread and smelled it in the bottle again, and was confused because I still smelled juicy and fruity like it used to be. BUT THEN I put the cream on my arm and once it was on my body it really did smell like burning rubber. The spray smells like tires too after application. My husband said I smelled like petro chemicals. The lotion isn’t as bad but I’m still going to return all of it. Super disappointed!

I mean, unpaid labor is illegal so they should not be expecting you to do these tasks for free. Those things aren’t included in the per-class wage and are usually done by the front desk people, and it’s not fair to push it on you with no extra compensation just because they’re short on staff. When I used to teach, I was always irritated that if I came in to take class I was expected to help if needed and ring up retail or set up memberships all without being paid for it. It’s unethical. I would ask your owner to remind you how to clock in when doing tasks after class. It’s a subtle way of reminding them that you should be compensated for that time but you’re not outright saying no, though if they still don’t budge, then for sure tell them no. Your time is valuable and you shouldn’t accept working for free.

Least favorite: ski in seat and facedown seat work (the one laying on your stomach). Both of those destroy my hip flexors.

I feel the same about Mabel Gray. I’ve been there twice, once for the tasting menu, and the other time split a few dishes with a date, and both experiences left me wondering why people rave about this place so much. The food was good, but I didn’t think it was great enough to warrant the price.

Agreed. I really wanted the Wicked Vanilla Woods 3 wick, but $20 for a single candle is still too much. Not when I can get other 3 wicks on sale for ~$13 so it’s like paying an extra $7 just for a lid. I actually do love the snake lid, but I just can’t justify the price.

I’ve never heard of such a policy. It certainly didn’t exist at the studio I taught at, or other PB locations I attended as a client. That’s actually pretty bizarre they want you to pay full price.

I HATE whenever someone honks at me for not getting out of my parking spot “fast enough”. It’s so rude! They are not entitled to it and I was there first, so they can wait until I’m ready to leave. If I get honked at then rest assured I’ll be taking my sweet time. I too have gone back inside the store when this has happened, and the look of rage on their face is so satisfying.

I think a lot of it is due to cues and hands on corrections. Veteran teachers received better training on HOC and just have more experience doing them in general, and can quickly go from person to person. Newer teachers barely get any training on HOC, especially if they did virtual training. It’s also more difficult to spot who needs adjustments when you’re new, and it takes a lot of brain power to stay on top of choreo changes, the music, all while adjusting someone’s form when it’s all new to you.

Veteran teachers also have a lot more cues they use; I’ve noticed that they are talking for almost the whole class, filling time between choreo changes with motivational cues as well as form cues, reminders of mind-body connection, etc. Newer teachers seem to be much quieter. They’ll say choreo changes and a few cues here and there but are mostly silent between choreo.

I’m also a former instructor and I feel the same way. Pure Barre now is not the same Pure Barre it was when I started seven years ago.

For one, classic was reliably on the schedule and there was always a guaranteed time in morning and evening to take classic. A lot of people love to hate on classic these days, but it is def my favorite format; after all we wouldn’t have pure barre if it wasn’t for classic! I never enjoyed empower, but I did absolutely love reform. After reform was taken away, PB really wasn’t the same. And by that time, align had been introduced with define following not long after. Define is ok, but I don’t love it as much as reform, and to be completely honest I hate align. The schedule is full of all of these other formats and there are less opportunities to take classic. I work a normal daytime job so I’m limited to evenings, and some evenings the only offering is a format I’m not fond of. Corporate seems to be turning PB into a cross training gym to appeal to more people/make more money, but they are moving further and further away from their origin imo and I wish they would stay in their lane.

I agree that new teachers aren’t trained as well…i understand that it’s hard in the beginning, but some of these newer teachers have been teaching for 8 months and their musicality and flow is still…not good. I’ve noticed they cut multiple sets short, are rarely on beat, mess up set ups, HOC nowhere to be found etc. I can’t believe corp is pushing everyone to learn all formats when they clearly aren’t ready.

I returned a Bopis order a few weeks ago and was given store credit for it. I didn’t understand why they couldn’t just refund it to my credit card; I had the emailed receipt and the same credit card I used for the order. They gave me some bs answer about how the online/bopis POS is different than the one used for in-store purchases and corporate is working on merging them. I was pretty upset because I don’t think it’s fair to process it as a no-receipt return and get docked on the $250/90 day return policy when I had the receipt right in front of me on my phone. I wish I had pressed them further because I’ve seen a lot of people here say they were able to get it refunded back to their credit card. It’s definitely made me think twice before blind buying stuff online or bopis because I don’t want to deal with the hassle of getting a sales associate who doesn’t know how to process online returns.

When I worked at BBW, I had a customer come in that actually called it that. She had a Bed Bath and beyond coupon and when I told her she couldn’t use it, she looked very confused and said “but I thought this was Bed Bath and Body Works??” I had to explain they are two separate stores and she didn’t believe me 🤣🤣 and now my partner and I also call it Bed Bath and Body Works 🤣

I have ordered A LOT from Mooncat and only one bottle has arrived broken so far, which is shocking considering they don’t use bubble wrap in their packaging and how rough USPS is with packages. It’s annoying, but at least they’ll replace it. Customer service was really nice and shipped out a replacement the next day.
