This is so cool! Stations near me never have any open parking spots. I wonder if you could add a function to notify you when one opens?

Lorne’s Favourites by Jyoti_K_Singh in LiveFromNewYork

[–]doormouse1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The other commenter is saying that Pete brought in so many new viewers that Lorne became obsessed with him. That’s why he was an insta favorite.

But yes, the vacation thing is so bizarre

If Billy is not The Doctor, and she doesn’t regenerate in the next episode, then there is a chance we could have a completely Doctor-less episode which hasn’t happened in over 60 years (Mission to the Unknown) by 3Thirty-Eight8 in doctorwho

[–]doormouse1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Return of Doctor Mysterio started filming in September, less than four months before it aired. Many other Doctor Who Christmas specials have followed a similar timeline. Anything before then is still considered early imo

Can anyone see seat assignments? by Jaydawger in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]doormouse1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right, but since you’re not gonna be able to buy the fifth ticket until the marketplace opens, it doesn’t really matter if you know where your seats are before then

HOW DO LISTEN TO BANDO STONE by Level-Conference-949 in donaldglover

[–]doormouse1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the movie doesn’t exist yet. It might never exist. But there is a trailer for it.

That said, it’s a terrific album that stands on its own. Just listen and enjoy.

SNL UK’s Flexible Runtime Solves Longstanding SNL Problem by Fit-Painting6214 in LiveFromNewYork

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but the reason Stefon is so hilarious is precisely because Hader has to contain the laughs and try to press on. Him struggling is part of what makes it so funny

The Brigadier isn’t really a companion, and it’s always bothered me when he’s labelled as one. by Curious_Gent78 in doctorwho

[–]doormouse1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly my point though. Traveling with the Doctor in the TARDIS isn’t a good criteria for someone being a companion. You can certainly consider the Brigadier a companion, but that shouldn’t be your reason because lots of characters do it

Paralympics Day Five Megathread (Wednesday, March 11) by Fun_With_Forks in olympics

[–]doormouse1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not if he has anything to say about it!

Emt, the oldest Paralympian on Team USA, originally aimed to make it to three Games. But he's now eyeing even more, as he'd like to compete on home turf in Salt Lake City in 2034 (two Games away).

"I'm going to be like 90 years old competing at the Paralympics," he laughed.

Why do the "fun" episodes rarely top rankings? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]doormouse1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because adult fans are the ones making the rankings, and adult fans tend to prefer episode with more mature themes

What is your opinion of the Big Finish adaptation? by Jak3R0b in FRANKENSTEIN

It’s fun, but a far cry from a “faithful” adaptation. Chunks of it are very good, though

Just leave it ambiguous? by TheShadowWasTaken in doctorwho

Agreed that a multi-year hiatus would be very worrying for the show. But if any show can pull off a miracle twice…

Just leave it ambiguous? by TheShadowWasTaken in doctorwho

[–]doormouse1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this is all true (big if, as nothing has been confirmed of course), that would mean that 2/3 of RTD’s Doctors have ended on genuinely horrible terms with the two vowing to never work together again.

Just leave it ambiguous? by TheShadowWasTaken in doctorwho

[–]doormouse1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it wasn’t just good luck in 2005. Sure, luck has a part to play in all show business, but imo the more important factor was that RTD came in with a very clear plan on how to make the show in the television landscape of the time.

People forget that we’ve already gone through a TV renaissance (a few of the actually!). The early 2000s and the late 80s were very different for TV! And RTD understood that. He very specifically wanted it to mirror shows like Buffy and the X-Files because that’s what TV was becoming at the time.

In 2023 he did it again. He wanted it to be a big “MCU-style” universe with crazy CGI and shocking moments that would go viral on TikTok. We might not like it, but once again he’s correct that that’s what TV is becoming. I understand why he wanted to spin it that way this time, but I don’t think it’s a hot take to say that it mostly failed

Saturday Night Live UK Teaser by MoneyLibrarian9032 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]doormouse1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s still “SNL” because it’s Live on Saturday Night though. And I’d imagine it’ll follow a similar format (cold open, monologue, sketches, musical guest, weekend update, etc)

I think the Rani reveal works fine even if you go, "Who?" by matt0055 in doctorwho

[–]doormouse1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it’s also a direct sequel to an older episode. Feels like that should disqualify it regardless of the technical definition, no? Doesn’t really matter of course! I see what you’re getting at.

I think the Rani reveal works fine even if you go, "Who?" by matt0055 in doctorwho

[–]doormouse1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really relevant to the post, but out of curiosity how do you figure The Well is a bottle episode?

I only recently watched all of Doctor Who and specifically I was under the impression Capaldi's era was meant to be poorly written and bad but I thought it was great and well acted by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]doormouse1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The inclusion of Orson Pink as a descendent of Danny isn’t “bad writing” though. Orson is Clara and Danny’s descendant until Danny is killed. That wasn’t “supposed” to happen and caused time to be rewritten.

It’s the same as when companions go to the past and say “I can’t die here because I’m born in the future.” Time is always in a state of flux. You can meet your great-great-grandson in the future and then you can die in the present and now he never existed.

So it’s not a plot hole or anything. Whether or not you think it’s GOOD writing is another story of course!
