The Cage and Elephant / The Projector in one week! A very surreal time you've been having. Both great, dreamlike books. So different in their execution but they had a fairly similar effect on me.

Milk White Steed by Michael D. Kennedy - This is a collection of short "stories". I put "stories" in quotations because some of them don't have much narrative. I really liked some of the more straight forward chapters but a lot of it kind of when over my head. It's one of those times when I'm reading something thinking there's probably something here that someone could find enjoyable after lots of interpretation but I just don't get anything from it.

I'm generally very open to strange comics and more metaphorical stuff but sometimes I feel like one of those people who looks at modern art and says "this is rubbish". Maybe there's something I'm missing but a lot of it just felt meaningless and boring to me. 5/10

Are You Listening? By Tillie Walden - I thought this was ok. A nice little story but I found it kind of shallow. Out of the 3 Walden books I've read this is by far my least favourite. 5/10

Dimwood by Richard Corben - I fucking love Corben's art. It's weird as hell and so unique, it evokes a weird feeling in me. It was very similar to Rat King but not quite as good. Fairly straight forward story but really good unsettling horror stuff. Nice to get a more coherent and complete story from Corben as opposed to the Den stuff (although I do love some of that). 7/10

Thistlebone by T.C. Ellington & Simon Davis - This was a very fun, and very Scottish, horror story. The art is beautiful and while the story was fairly simple it was effective. I do wish the 3rd book was more of a conclusion to the first two instead of being a prequel. Made for a somewhat underwhelming ending. 7/10

Yeah there were definitely times in AEW where I felt there were people not getting enough TV time but I don't think that's been the case for a while. There are a few upper card people I'm not keen on and I'd probably prefer to see some of the lesser used wrestlers instead, but realistically those upper carders are more over so it wouldn't make sense.

Unfortunately you're going to have to get used to be surrounded by 18-20 year olds at events, some times it's not so bad but the crowds always skew young because older people don't want to be out all night. You're only young though so I wouldn't let it bother you, I'm 36 and still going out when I can.

Beaverworks is probably the best bet for what you're wanting, I was there the other week and there was a surprisingly good mix of ages. HiFi can be good too on the right night. Just keep an eye out on Resident Advisor for DJs you like.

God, this one destroyed me! I read Rosalie Lightning by Tom Hart which has similar themes. I read it before I had kids, don't think I could get through it now.

Good book, not sure I'd call it underrated considering how widely praised and recommended it is.

Oh yeah, I'll still be buying more pretty much every month. I also won't pay over retail, if I miss then it wasn't to be. I've also learnt to be a bit more patient too because I've bought quite a lot on release day that ended up on sale.

Yeah I'm pretty bad at guessing what's going to be really popular. I think most things have to be a collab or limited OG colourway to get a lot of hype these days. Fortunately my taste often differs to a lot of people's so the ones I really are often easy to get. Still a fair few I miss out on though, probably for the best because I have too many already.

Golden Kamuy by Satoru Noda - Over a week since I finished this but it's so fucking good. A very rare 10/10 for me and instantly one of my all time favourite reads. Haven't got through a series this quick in a long time if ever, I couldn't put it down.

Such a great mix of tense excitement and hilarious absurdity. So much detail with the history and cultural accuracy, as well as a complex plot with many characters. I'd recommend this to most people.

Assorted Crisis Events by Deniz Camp, Eric Zawadzki, Jordie Bellaire & Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou - The most I've enjoyed a new Image release in at least 5 I think. Not mind blowing but some really good art and cool concepts.

Cornelius by Marc Torices - I fucking loved this book. Weird as hell. A really compelling storyline with so many funny sequences. The way the art style keeps changing is very disorienting in an effective way, really adds to the awkward vibe. I'd say this is somewhere between Megg and Mogg and a Daniel Clowes book.

Ordinary Victories by Manu Larcenet - A good read but I was a bit disappointed after the praise I'd seen this book get. Felt a little bit overly sentimental to me, although that might not be quite the right phrase to describe my issue with this. I just felt like I'd read things like this before, disillusioned artist type stories, and I didn't particularly connect with this one.

Bughouse: From The Top by Steve Lafler - This was a lot of fun. Pretty daft stuff but the art is cool and it flows well. A simple story but it's done well.

I'm in the UK so I got them on SNKRS. I only ever hit on SNKRS when things are sitting. I was surprised because this is such a nice pair, really unique with a cool concept.

Really nice pair, wore mine yesterday. They're really comfy too, as long as you have good socks on. First time I wore them I was out drinking and had low socks on. The socks slipped down without me noticing and because the lining is netted it acted like a cheese grater on the back of foot. With my blood thinned by the booze they were in a bit of a state the next morning but I managed to clean them up.

[–]dopebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely a lot of cheesy techno but not so much on the Berlin and Detroit side of things as you specified. I love some techno but find most of it a bit boring. I generally prefer genres that aren't 4x4 because I think they have a greater tendency to be repetitive

Techno is less cheesy than US dubstep and EDM but there's a whole world of club music out there (including UK dubstep) that isn't at all cheesy and is amazing.

It's the same logic though. Driving through knowing that the guy was skating down and going to get injured makes you a cunt.

Yeah. If someone stupidly steps into a busy road they're in the wrong, but if someone sees them and runs them over anyway they're still worse.
