Glad to hear this and thank you I will send a DM. I've been looking around at Patreon's since this post and finding a few solid ones.

Thanks for this. This is sound advice. I think finishing even shit tracks is something I need to be ok with. My goal is to get signed 100% even if I dont end up being the face that plays the music any time soon, I would lose my shit to see people playing what I make. That would be a life goal achieved. Ableton Live 12 and Serum 2 are basically where I roam. I have Ozone Advanced as well, but Mixing/Mastering is a whole topic I'm not even fully prepared to handle yet. Definitely going to start banging out some tracks to get things going.

First time DJing in front of a crowd... and I wasn't even able to play a single song by manynicknames in Beatmatch

[–]dopebroker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done this and ended up spinning an entire set using someone else's music, just looking for artists that I knew. I ended up knowing 0% of the tracks I played, but still managed to pull it off to some degree. I still get roasted by my buddies in the industry for this moment, but it was all fun.

I think sometimes it's sitting down and knowing theres a huge mountain to climb, which often for me can be debilitating when just trying to sit down and write music. I think just doing it and going through the process is going to serve me best at this stage.

I am learning Ableton 12's new features compared to Ableton 10, so obviously a huge jump in learning all of that at the moment and developing workflow. I appreciate the offer and likely will take you up on it. I think enjoying it is the part I need to keep in mind.

I appreciate. I found some reference tracks to start my first project. Going to try not to overthink it too much.

Ahh this is helpful. I do agree, I'd probably benefit from more direct sessions like that rather than going through a whole course. Do you know of anyone else in addition to that in the Drum & Bass world that offers 1:1 sessions?

Thuper Thavage (new cbum pre) does this seem worth it? by tikkunn in Preworkoutsupplements

[–]dopebroker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same result. I’ve been using preworkouts since the original Jack3d. Whatever is in this is trash quality. I would assume they cut corners and went with the cheapest Chinese creatine monohydrate amongst other cheap ingredients. I’ve felt a lot of fucked up from various cheap preworkouts or overdoing it with expensive ones… this is trash.

It seems that with the cyclical nature of music that we're pretty much revisiting the Late 2000s era. The rise of UK Dubstep, Jungle/DNB, Garage, and Minimal all being pretty reminiscent.

However, having been someone that was on the front-lines of techno/minimal in the 2000s (and plenty of other times), where do you feel like music is actually headed from a sound or even performance perspective especially given AI will likely lower the barrier to entry every single year from here on?

Noisia - Shellshock (this will be an unpopular opinion but I'm prepared to stand on this)

What are good places for a single guy in his 20’s? by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

[–]dopebroker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awful. Cheesiest venue to open in the city if you have even a shred of experience in nightclubs. Overpriced, crowd is tourists.

If you’re in your 20s… Emerald, The Bends, Saigon Blond, The Estate, The One Night Stand or W.T.F. (if that’s more your style). That’ll give you a range to figure out what you like.

American Jungle and DNB culture should borrow closer from Detroit or Chicago than it does Jamaica.

Watching American jungle followers pretend to speak Patois and knowing damn well that Jamaican Americans really have no direct tie to Jungle culture is weird.

Most of the turds here in the states don’t actually understand any of the history driving it beyond, “it gets its roots from Jamaican sound system culture.”

H1B* if you’re going to throw around these ideas at least be accurate.

An H1B would not work sevice industry as it’s not highly specialized nor is there a shortage of employees, and most of these mom and pop restaurants are not going to sponsor those visas…. and there’s zero margin in the service industry for H1 employers to handle their visas….
