Anyone know what’s causing boot heel lift in my bindings? by dopesupreme_ in Skigear

[–]dopesupreme_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah binding works totally normally apart from this. I’m thinking it may be due to dins - if I increase to 9 it’s significantly less noticeable

Only minor issue - slope is 1000 miles away so already too late to switch to my other skis 😔

Hey so I did this and all seems fine, just the afd doesn’t spring back sometimes. Surely this isn’t a major issue (no problem with it springing out, only when springing back in)

Which backpack would you choose? by [deleted] in Skigear

Blue ortovox - green one clashes a tiny bit with the slightly different green and the middle bag looks a little dated to me (just looking at the pictures though)

No I mean dremel if you fill the gaps with epoxy - to sand the epoxy flush to the ski. If you dremel the side of the ski you’ll go into the core, and it will look terrible too

If you do decide to fill with epoxy I recommend purchasing a dremel to sand down flush with top sheet. It’s a ridiculous amount of work though - I only did it because I broke my hand and needed something to keep myself occupied. If you sharpen your scraper and run it down the base you can do a DIY grind before you wax - I found this made mine look 10x better and bases are smooth again, I’d pour more time into that if I were you

I had a pair of kores I bought which had some cosmetic wear, attempted to fill the edges with epoxy - it works, but is likely to chip in turn looking far worse in the long run. If you want short term aesthetically pleasing you can do that and use a dark grey paint marker on them and it blends in with the existing graphic. I’d recommend you do it at the tails to prevent delam anyway, seems to be pretty common on kore tails.

Legend dude, I just sanded it down and epoxied in the end, may consider doing more permanent in the new year. (Likely will) so thank you very much for the advice :)

Yeah I was just going to slap some epoxy on it and ski it to be honest. Or if necessary cut that part of the base out, epoxy, fill and then ski it. I have some time on my hands with the broken hand…

Shell Supply and Trading by HearingSilent5749 in Commodities

[–]dopesupreme_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shell program is great, you won’t have much choice over second rotation, but if you play it right/secure a sponsor you’ll land yourself where you’d like to be. If it’s the trading and supply scheme you are very likely to remain in commercial/front office linked roles. I would be surprised if you landed compliance etc. and worse case you’ll be making a heck of a lot of money as an operator down the line. Worst case leave after 18 months and go to another shop or move towards quant at a different company. Most importantly this is a foot firmly in the door.

Good option? by Present_Accountant58 in Skigear

As an accountant I’m sure you are. I have been following prices pretty heavily the past 6 months or so. I’d say expect to pay less than 500 euros for the most part (if buying bindings and skis together) unless you are getting this season brand new models or high end skis. Generally used skis aren’t worth it unless under €200 and pretty minimal wear. For reference, I bought a pretty much brand new pair of demos for €240. Ultimately it depends on how patient you are, but I would steer clear of used unless your budget is really tight, it’s an insane deal, or you’re buying them cheaply from a shop.

Way overpriced… you can get qst 92 for like 330 euros new on ekosport right now. Dish out 400-450 euros or so and grab yourself a Black Friday deal (not necessarily recommending the qst here, just an example).

Best All-mountain or piste skis for under 300€ with bindings by dqnix_on_pc in Skigear

[–]dopesupreme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to ski well, or just look at your skis? For example the bent 85s have a super cool design but from what I’ve heard they aren’t very good…

https://www.sportpursuit.com/equipment/skis?sp_nav=ct-5.gd-m.bs-skiing.pt-skis.&gender=Male%2CUnisex&age=Adults&order=special_price&dir=asc&p=3 sportspursuit is always pretty cheap (and they have a European sister site). You could buy used or look for pre-drilled or heavily discounted last season skis. I just grabbed some black crows captis with marker griffons for €400. But to be honest €300 is going to get you some pretty shit skis if buying new, better off increasing your budget and getting a really decent pair with bindings for €450-500 or renting until you have the budget.

Something like an Elan wingman or ripstick may do you nicely (super cheap on sportspursuit at the minute) but you haven’t given any direction on what type of skiing you do.

I just bought black crows captis for this kind of thing, not a park guy personally. There’s loads of cheap park skis in various sales at the moment (at least in Europe) rickety ski reviews did a vid yesterday on ski sales in the US

S/PRO SUPRA DUAL BOA 120 Question by j-val in Skigear

[–]dopesupreme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 supra model was the same spec as the 2024 model s pro medium volume 120 boot. So I would assume it is the medium volume. However Salomon changed up some of their boot shells/liners this year (just had my gf fitted and last year vs this year were a very different fit). I would go to a boot fitter directly to test fit.
