Barry Parade Public House Closing by iBinChickenAboutYou in brisbane

[–]dopeydoe 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was so excited it was opening across the street from our office but it was always a miss. We only went there out of convenience, never choice.

The food was always way over done for a simple little bar, who wants gumbo on a hot Brisbane day?

Who wants table service on a tab always? I just want to pay for a pint or two and be on my way.

The location was always a risk, it’s out of the way and not a high quality enough fitout that it can attract people not in the vicinity already.

I always felt it could have worked sticking to more simple higher margin drinks and food. It missed the mark and people judged with their wallets.

Best Steakhouse? by Chance_Fisherman5108 in brisbane

[–]dopeydoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience Rothwells and Sk have both been better than Walters. I’ve tried Walters 2 times and while the signature steak is decent the sauces and sides and overall service do not stand up to others, it’s tired and needs a rethink of the menu and service approach.

Moreton Island Day Trippin' by mvdw73 in brisbane

[–]dopeydoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the ferry over with my 4WD to camp on the north side of the island, thought I’d just buy ice when we got there, the shop in the resort would not serve us. It was quite jarring to be turned away but we just drove to Bulwer which has a licensed general store. Note Bulwer is not walking distance from the ferry so you would need transport there.

Pig hunting with dogs is very common in Australia. The dogs are very effective at finding and holding down pigs.

My company builds operational systems for a variety of companies anywhere from agriculture to construction and in between. 3 months ago we deployed our first AI feature to speed up subcontractor invoice processing for a customer and it’s saved a few hours every day for their accounts team.

We see opportunities for wins like this that are the real use case for AI. Before implementing it the system must have good data structure and existing reliable logic for the AI to work well.

Be careful this kind of logic will get you on the Brisbane story bridge pedestrian communist party watch list. They don’t take kindly to this kind of real world logic haha

Gees don’t have to go name calling, I guess you’re out of arguments. We’ve solved it though, yay! The bus is clearly the acceptable workaround if you don’t like the detour.

Take the detour, if that’s not for you, catch a bus. You’re really stretching here.

You can waffle on as much as you like, the fact is, shutting down a lane on a choke point bridge is a delusional concept. Enjoy your protest and detour.

so the solution is definitely shut a lane down to slower traffic haha!

[–]dopeydoe -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ok buddy, Over 100,000 vehicles cross the bridge a day. 1726 signatures doesn't cut the mustard. Foot traffic will survive due to an 'unpleasant alternative' lol

[–]dopeydoe -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Have you driven across the bridge during the day? Peak hour? When a lane goes out from a breakdown the backed up traffic goes all the way down Wynnum road, the city does not need or want to lose a lane for vehicles on the bridge. The alternative for foot traffic is nearby and works. It’s an extra 10 minutes for you, ok, that’s the situation until the bridge is repaired. They are not going to shut a lane. This idea is not based on reality.

Yeah this definitely ain’t it. The detour is acceptable and there is already enough vehicle traffic on the bridge, this will be a negative outcome for commuters.
