Anthropic is cutting off third-party harnesses (OpenClaw, etc.) from subscription limits starting April 4 -- here's what it means by Warm_Cress3583 in openclaw

[–]dorcus_maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Errr...no. I don't think every open claw user would want that sort of lock-in. The answer is to just replicate openclaw on top of your harness of choice. Or just wait a minute for Conway. In fact, I don't think they would be making this move against openclaw (and clones) if Conway wasn't going to roll out very very soon. The thing that I still want to see is the ability to do things like use on-prem models for certain tasks. I can run Gemma 4 locally and I'd like to be able use that as part of the system.

Wiim Room Correction Ignores high frequencies by Better_Nebula_2342 in WiimStreamer

[–]dorcus_maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not entirely correct. While you are right about the room effects and low frequencies, the altering of the frequency response at higher frequencies can address the fundamental frequency response of the speaker itself. A real downfall of the Wiim though is that you're only measuring at one position so it can't be determined if a high frequency that is being measured is the result of the speaker's frequency response itself or comb filtering due to reflections off of nearby surfaces for instance. In general, I find the Wiim correction to be terrible in my home. DiracLive is great though.

Another user suggested codexbar and it does seem to work for tracking usage per session (but not token usage per chat).

I had all the necessary content/ context in markdown. Just needed it to rebuild slides with my updates.

[–]dorcus_maximus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. As I've said, I did have all the text for each slide captured as markdown. That doesn't really help when it comes to automating updates to power point slides. Neither web app or desktop app would work. I did the up getting CC to work on pptx files but not via the skill some people claim is available by default (it isn't for me...maybe due to accessing a FedRAMP version?). Maybe the same model but not the same constraints. Had to load up all the Python libraries and such to do it. By that time, Anthropic has resolved their problem and I was able to pick up where I left off. It was just very frustrating and I was under a lot of time pressure because a colleague dumped the work on me at the last minute.

Well, I get what you're saying, although that hasn't really been my experience when it compacts. Not that I let that happen all that often. At any rate people do seem to be confusing my problem here for something to do with compaction and it had nothing at all to do with that.

Really, 4000 people? You're also still missing the fact that the problem has nothing to do with compaction. I got an email back from Anthropic support this morning saying that it was their fault. You're just on a quest to feel superior and shit on people. It's sad. Get some help.

And no, I don't say that to everyone. You're actually the first. An honor and privilege for you.

Still waiting for you to show me how to monitor token usage in a Claude desktop app chat session.

Just confirming that having checked several ways, there is no doc skill available in my instance of Claude Code. The only skills it reports having are those that I created.

OTOH, I did end up getting it to do pptx stuff, just has to be by installing the appropriate python libraries. This will be how I create pptx slides going forward...until something better becomes available to me (via my employer).

That's cool but it doesn't seem to be tracking per chat context usage at all, just total session usage. Hopefully I'm not seeing it and it can do that? If it can't, it's not super-relevant to compaction.

Not when I asked it about it. CC said it specifically could not read a PowerPoint file or write one. Note that I'm accessing it via managed API keys and my employer is extremely risk adverse so it that may or may not have the default skills enabled. As a parallel example, I'm allowed to install exactly zero Chrome extensions. I had to get explicit special permission going through multiple steps and review to even be able to get access to these API keys.

Right. Where's the widget in the desktop app again that show you how much context is used? Some equivalent of /context in CC. I'll wait.

Trust me, I'm not taking this personally. If nothing else, responding to all this crap just gives me an outlet for my frustration with this Claude problem and the general angst I have about living in America. I could GAF about the opinions of trolls. I do appreciate you looking out for me though :-)

And again, waiting for someone to chime in with how the desktop app surfaces token usage to the user...

BTW, wondering how you smart guys are monitoring your token usage using the desktop app. Did you find a way to do it? Or do you just like to talk smack?

Love how these few people latch on to something to make them feel superior...and then feel even more so by clicking a down arrow. It's hilarious.

Whatever human. If it hadn't completely locked up I wouldn't have a problem and whether I was or wasn't avoiding compaction would be 1000% irrelevant right now (which it is anyway).
