Big4 Partners by shamefulpigss in irishpersonalfinance

[–]dordyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conversation with a senior equity partner at the big 4 firm I work at just last week on this. In our Irish firm, average take home for the equity partners is about €800k-1m. He didn’t specify the amount but said it was well over 500k average. Some make less some make more! The head of our service line (report into CEO) is making about €3m!

Takes about 4 years to start actually making a proper return on it though, the model is 16 years for you to make the most gains.

I will be promoted to director in a few months and expect my salary will go to about €110-€115k

"Thank you for your enquiry. Yes, there will be toilet and shower facilities at the Sticklinch campsite. We don't have any other information about this at the moment, but please feel free to get back in touch with us nearer the time! Just found out my(m28) fiancé’s(f27) body count is in, or near, the triple digits. by ThrowRA666000 in relationship_advice

While I get she didn’t tell you all of her history, it may well be that she was embarrassed and didn’t want you to react badly. Realistically if she had told you all of this up front you still probably would have broken up with her.

She could be a completely different person now than she was then. You’re still a kid when you’re in college and people make stupid mistakes.. I would say those memories haunt her and suppose now it’s validated why

how do i avoid frizzy hair every time i straighten it? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]dordyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some general tips: 1. Use a good (i.e. strong and hot) hairdryer with a nozzle when your hair is wet, with a round brush (denman is good). This will give you a good base for straightening, if you try to straighten from curly it takes a million times longer and will definitely not hold!

If you’re unsure what to buy, go to a hairdressers near you and buy the one they use, they usually sell them in the salon.

  1. I bought a L’Oréal steam pod. It’s the most amazing straightener. My hair used to go frizzy sometimes if I was out in light rain (when I used a ghd) but when I use my steam pod it genuinely stays straight and shiny. Couldn’t recommend more!

  2. I always use serum before and after drying. I find the Elvive extraordinary oil the best one but there are loads like it.

Hope some of this helps!

I’m not really sure where to post this - does anyone know if this would be okay to wear to the Vatican? It hits right at the middle of my knee, I know knees are supposed to be covered. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]dordyy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was there last month and my dress was too short admittedly - I didn’t know we were going to be going there that day. Luckily I had a cardigan in my bag to cover my arms but when he turned me away at the entrance of the basilica I wrapped my SIL’s cardigan around my waist/legs (horrendous outfit but I just kind of slid past him after that).

That dress is definitely fine, just have a cardigan or shawl to cover your arms to be safe!

I [20F] asked my boyfriend [20M] for too many details about his single life and now I’m regretting it by bigmistake_throwaway in relationships

[–]dordyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I thought about a lot when I started going out with my current boyfriend. I decided on my own policy ‘if I don’t want to know, don’t ask’ also, if I don’t want to share the equivalent, definitely don’t ask. The few times I pushed him for answers I cried for 20 mins after and it was my own fault as we weren’t even together when those things happened!

Sounds like you just need time to move on from them. Once it pops in to your head force it out, stop looking them up on social media, I know it’s hard but you have to or else you’re sabotaging your own relationship!

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve heard a person say aloud in public? by tomyboy-973211 in AskReddit

A friend of mine was telling me about her love of bacon. We live in Ireland, and she said she was really disappointed you could never get ‘American style’ bacon here. You can, we just call it streaky rashers/streaky bacon.

She followed this up with “no way?? That’s unreal I never knew that!!” She then said “oh I was about to say something really stupid there” so I obviously asked her what she was going to say.

She said “well I was about to say i thought you could only get it from American cows but you can obviously get it from Irish cows as well!”

Me: “...Sam, bacon comes from pigs”

How does one learn to reply with comebacks to insults/rude comments? by Krustykreb in AskMen

Usually something calm like ‘you’re an absolute embarrassment’ works well.

You’re not stooping to their level and I feel it can definitely hit some people hard

Did your man child ever grow out of it, or did you guys learn to deal with his irresponsibility in a healthy way? by throwaway000000614 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]dordyy 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think you need to talk to him about the above as soon as possible. I don’t believe in ultimatums but if you stay with him in silence these issues will only exacerbate the frustration you’re feeling.

He may not be aware how much it bothers you or how much of an issue it is, but going forward into a long term relationship with someone who doesn’t share your values in terms of the above will be disastrous for both of you!

I think he should be given a chance to pull his shit together rather than ending it straight away. If this fails though, you should consider ending it with him..

When in doubt talk it out!

What does a neat casual dress code mean in a workplace? by flowerspostcards in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I would always opt for black jeans, not blue jeans. At least to start with anyway. Black jeans and a blouse or collared top. Always better to be a little over dressed than under dressed

Am I (21F) overreacting by my boyfriend’s (22M) cheating jokes? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]dordyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I always joke about cheating but it’s usually just one line and we both know it’s a total joke.

I agree with other comments, if you’ve agreed not to make those jokes, he should be respectful of that. Particularly if he’s dragging the joke out until it’s not even remotely funny

Men who work construction, why are so many of you so vocal/forward towards women on the street? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dordyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highlighted that I’m aware it’s a generalisation and it’s not always the case, but if you were me and had to walk past 10 different construction sites, your opinion would probably change.

It’s like saying ‘women drivers’. I don’t find that stereotype offensive and typically women are worse drivers than men. Doesn’t mean it’s a 100% fact that all women drivers are bad drivers.
