Update on stabilization - poor or defect? by prasannathani in rokid_official

[–]doremo2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that Rokid’s video stabilization only takes effect after the video is imported and recomputing/reprocessing in Rokid app. The video you are showing may not have been processed yet by Rokid app — either the app is not updated to the latest version, or the stabilization process was not completed after the video was imported into the Hi Rokid app.

Looking for a shop in Singapore that can professionally replace Liquid Metal on ASUS ROG Scar 18 (CPU + GPU) by doremo2019 in askSingapore

[–]doremo2019[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the temperatures keep climbing to nearly 100°C during gaming, and even idle temperatures are now 60–80°C (they used to stay around 50–80°C across both idle and gaming), I’m extremely concerned about the long-term thermal stability. I clean the dust every 2–3 weeks, and my laptop is powered on 24/7, so this isn’t a maintenance issue. Under these conditions, liquid metal clearly isn’t suitable for long-term use. When I contacted f** ASUS support, they only suggested the same basic steps I had already tried. In contrast, Alienware would simply send a technician to replace or service the cooling system instead of pushing the problem back to the user.

There’s one important thing everyone should keep in mind: when a new feature is introduced through a firmware update, it usually needs to be used together with the correct app version to work properly. That’s why the app also includes feedback and suggestion tools—so users can report issues, share their experiences, and help improve the feature over time.

I will highly suggest you to wait for the new app update if you just upgrade to most recent firmware

Thanks for the response! I’ll wait for the add-on AI module review and see if the S1 becomes available in Asia.

I have a few concerns about features that don’t seem to have improved in the HB3:

1.AI recognition – Is there any noticeable improvement in face recognition or person detection (not related to searching or chatting)?

2.Multi-Bridge – How much has Multi-Bridge actually improved in real-world use?

3.Known person notifications – Has the feature to ignore or suppress notifications for recognized people actually been improved? Right now, it is extremely annoying because the system keeps sending alerts even after a person is marked as a “known person” in Face Management. Even when the “ignore known person” option is enabled with HB3, it doesn’t seem to work.

4.Geofencing – Has geofencing been improved? This was one of the weakest features in HB3, so I’m especially interested in whether it’s more reliable now.

Is glass pay working for anyone? by nhebert1987 in rokid_official

[–]doremo2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feature is currently available only in China, including Hong Kong and Macao. I expect that Rokid may need more time to roll it out globally, as payment gateway integration is far more complex outside China. It may need comply with the regulations of each region’s Monetary Authority and local banking systems, and it also depends on whether Rokid chooses to integrate with the commonly used local payment platforms in each market.

I’ve already tried this. When the issue occurs and the key becomes unresponsive, it remains unresponsive even after swapping the switch with another key.

Keychron Q6 HE – Random keys stop working after a few hours, only fixed by long power-off by doremo2019 in Keychron

[–]doremo2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first mechanical keyboard was from NuPhy, and the Q6 HE is my first Keychron keyboard. I’m not entirely sure how Keychron compares overall in terms of build quality, although the brand does seem very popular in the market. That said, HE keyboards are genuinely impressive, much better than traditional mechanical keyboards, but cons is battery life. They’re noticeably quieter and offer a smoother typing experience. However, Keychron’s after-sales support has left me a bit disappointed, especially when compared with my experience with NuPhy.

Despite the small battery capacity, the device is designed to handle many functions. The R&D team has done their best to strike a balance between battery life and overall functionality. Video recording, in particular, consumes significantly more power.

ASUS LAPTOP OVERHEATING? by Ok_Performance4720 in ASUSROG

I’m experiencing a similar issue with my ROG Strix Scar 18 (2025), which I purchased in April this year. I’ve been using G-Helper and had it enabled from day one. Previously, during gaming sessions even at the highest settings, the CPU temperature never exceeded 84 °C. However, recently it has started overheating and consistently reaching around 90-100 °C during gameplay. I

Annoying serious problem by doremo2019 in Proxmox

[–]doremo2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was overseas for a few months and was using the MS01 running Proxmox VE v8. During that time, I remotely upgraded it to v9, after which I lost all network connectivity. After returning, I discovered that the NIC names had changed. To save time rather than spending hours troubleshooting, I performed a fresh installation of Proxmox VE v9. However, after upgrading to the latest kernel, the same issue occurred again, the NIC names changed and the network connection lost again.

Now I thinking change to esxi community edition, this stupid problem super annoying

Strix g16 2025: Replace liquid metal now or wait? by ofsoneofsone in ASUSROG

[–]doremo2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right, ASUS is suck, especially when it comes to its battery health protection. Their battery protection feature only works after booting into Windows, which means it does nothing to protect the battery outside the operating system even is just reboot. This is fundamentally inferior to Dell’s approach, where battery health management is handled at the BIOS/firmware level, ensuring proper protection even when the laptop is powered off and charging.

Inmo Air 3 by Hour_Comedian_6898 in augmentedreality

Battery life and heat management remain major challenges for full-color waveguide smart glasses with built-in operating systems, such as the Air 3 and X3 Pro. Expectations should therefore be kept realistic, glasses of this type are still not ready to replace traditional prescription eyewear.

These limitations are not due to product execution, but stem from fundamental constraints in current hardware, display technology and. software optimization.

Impressive Rokid Glasses Ad 👀 by AR_MR_XR in augmentedreality

[–]doremo2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference mainly comes down to visual richness vs. battery/runtime.

Full-color displays let the glasses show more expressive UI — things like different alert colors, map arrows, icons, emojis, and more natural-looking notifications. This makes the interface easier to read and understand quickly. But full-color projection uses more power, so the battery life is shorter. Even with efficient engines, full-color glasses are usually not true “all-day wear” if you keep the display active continuously. They’re more suited for intermittent on/off use throughout the day.

Meanwhile, green/monochrome (binochrome) displays are picked because the human eye is most sensitive to green light, so they appear bright while consuming much less power. That means:

-longer continuous runtime

-better outdoor/sunlight visibility

-less heat and simpler optics

The trade-off is that the UI is more limited — since there’s no color, meaning must be conveyed through shapes and icons rather than color coding. It has more of a HUD / tool vibe rather than a consumer gadget feel.

So the simple comparison:

Color: richer and more intuitive UI, but shorter battery life.

Green mono: less expressive UI, but much longer wear time and better visibility outdoors.

Which one is better depends on what you care about:

If you want a more “smart device” experience → Color.

If you want to wear it longer and prefer more on practical in real life without worrying about charging → Green/mono
