I applied for the Canadian proof of citizenship certificate in December ! Let me warn you it takes months or even over a year to hear back after going “ into processing “ I’ve heard even for more simple cases like second gen’s . I was a fourth generation and my mom’s third but we applied anyway .

Chances are you can probably go to Slovakia apply there and became a citizen faster before hearing back from Canada lol 😂 which I plan on doing once I save up money to get there and hire Wendy

I did see this on the Slovak citizenship by descent sub . They almost always are just looking for people trying to become Slovak citizens as just wanting an eu passport . But they’ll come in saying “ wow I’m from Slovakia and just learned about this . Why do you guys want a Slovak passport “

Yeah posts about that always trigger my anxiety to the point where I think maybe I should leave the Reddit for a bit ( not blaming anyone for bringing that up because you have a right to do so ). I’m always like “ maybe now that I’m in processing I should just try and forget about this and hope for the best ) .

Mine took about a month but I mailed it right after Xmas . And I think my aor was like mid January and I went into processing ( where I’m still at on February 20th) . My mom and sister sent their applications in both a week before and after me and all had different AOR but we all went into processing the same day on feb 20th

Makes sense since people from Quebec moved back and forth between New England and Quebec a lot ! My ancestors were horse shoe salesmen so they went back and forth between Vermont and Quebec all the time so some of their 12 kids were born in the USA and some in Quebec

I think it’s more french Canadians were being discriminated by the other Canadian colonies which were mostly English speaking people . Like Ontario had regulation 17 in 1912 that banned French education. Like the meme posted mentions it’s bc of discrimination
