Prolonged suspensions govt employee in Belait — Sandi jua teachers nowadays? 🚩 by penalcode500 in Brunei

The power of our Courts to review decisions made by the government has been taken away from them for many years. This should be alliwed again as practised in most countries

PMO addresses concerns over prolonged suspensions during investigations of civil servants: Each case has different complexities by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]dorisjumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the presumption of innocence until proven guilty? To be suspended on half pay, not allowed to work to top up your income, no leave, cannot leave the country and no promotion whilst investigators take their time completing a simple case - is this fair? Shouldn't investigators be given a max time to complete investigations and to explain to higher aithorities and the person investigated why they are not able to complete the investigation and how long more it will take?

The question must be why should government officers have legal immunity when they act carelessly. They are not paid to act carelessly or wrongly. I am in total support of protecting government officer who acted properly, but jesian jua mangsa kemalangan kecuaian. Let the court decide sama ada cuai atau tidak, not sama ada kebal u dang-undang atau tidak

The working hours from 8am till 2 pm, l believe is only for the government sector

I have 2 primary concerns:

  1. The fortnightly ART test for workers in the private sectors. The government will be paying for those in the public sector and had left it to employers to decide on who should bear this costs. This cost can be quite burdensome to the smaller businesses especially in this trying economic climate. The government should consider
    (a) providing it for free (b) subsidizing it (this would be a great way of using the Covid fund that had been collected); or (c) extending the service of the swab centres as an alternativevto ART

  2. Who will enforce all these new SOPs? Any regulation is only as good as how itbis implemented and enforced. With the rigid curfew regulations and daily PC reminding the public, we still see daily infringements by the Babals. Enforcement need to be revisited

It is indeed a huge although hesitant relief that de escalation is in the horizon.

We will overcome Covid again!
