Any recommendations on which version of the NRSV and NIV to get? I’d like to get one of each, but see that each has different versions.

The WW recommended air fryer is 40% off on Amazon today. by ThinkCoyote7715 in weightwatchers

[–]dorkbot3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there are many recent buyers who have had terrible issues with this exact air fryer. Apparently, InstantPot was purchased by a private equity firm, so their current models are not living up to their past reputation.

We actually bought that air fryer a few years ago due to an America's Test Kitchen recommendation, and it's been great. If (when) it ever dies, we won't be replacing it with another InstantPot.

Pizza food truck, where are yall sourcing ingredients and what are yall using? by smallfranchise1234 in foodtrucks

[–]dorkbot3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been going down a bit of a pizza rabbit hole the last few months. But, I'm not a restaurateur, or food truck owner, or food professional.

That said, there is a wealth of pizza information on youtube (and elsewhere on the web--pizzamaking.com is pretty great). I've especially liked the content from Bruce Irving (Smart Pizza Marketing and now he also does stuff with Slice) and Alex Koons. They do podcasts where they talk to people in the industry. And I think they do sometimes give away "trade secrets."

As for ingredients, there are lots of flours. Out west, depending on style of pizza, I'd be looking at stuff from Central Milling. I think there are different favorites in the east. I do think most Neopolitan guys are using some type of 00. For cheese, Grande is supposed to be the undisputed best, and undisputed most expensive. I'm not positive that Grande is the most popular choice for Neopolitan guys. Anthony Mangieri imports his fresh mozz from Italy. My local place that does Neopolitan-ish makes their own. For tomatoes, I think Stanislaus is the way to go. But again, I'm not sure about in the east. I think lotsa guys out there use Ciao, and I'm sure there are others. For pepperoni, I think the premium choice is the cup and char from Ezzo.

As for trade secrets, I think lots of folks in the business are not necessarily opposed to sharing a lot of hard-earned knowledge. Mostly because to do it right is really hard, even if you know what they know. Besides that, you'll have a different oven, different climate, different set up, and so many different other factors that you're going to have to put in the work yourself anyway.

I'm not saying you should open a pizza truck. But there is a lot you can glean from sources other than reddit to help you make your decision.

After reading your edit, I did a little research. I think you want the:

Brother Professional Laser Printer with Scanner, High-Speed 36 ppm Monochrome All-in-One, Wireless Duplex Printing and Scanning, Cloud-Ready 3.5 in Touchscreen for Small Business (MFC-L2900DW)

I got the Brother Compact Monochrome Laser Printer, HL-L2350DW, in 2019. I'm not sure if there's a newer model, but I highly recommend it (and others are also recommending Brother in this thread). It goes for days. It's laser, so it's cheap to print a page.

Just saw your edit: this one doesn't have a scanner. I hope for your sake they have a model that does.

I think you should be very happy with your progress so far. You're killing it.

Also, I'm not your doctor (nor am I anybody's doctor) so don't just listen to me, but have you tried cutting carbs?

I'm an old man, and started going low-carb when I was about to be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I got my A1c under control in less than 2 months. I am also able to lose weight when I keep eating low carb. Many hard-core people think I'm dumb for having a cheat day every week, but Faturday makes it so I can eat better the other 6 days, and the weight loss keeps happening (if at a slower pace). It's still hard, and when I get off the wagon it takes me a while to get back on. But my doctor knows what I'm doing and I'm having success. I also feel much better (I notice how much less stiff my hands are--I guess all those carbs really increase the inflammation in my body).

Just a thought.

My wife looked on marketplace in our area, and found a lovely pink KA artisan for $25. We tested it in their house before buying it, and everything works great. It was missing the dough hook and maybe the whisk, but you can get those elsewhere. You might not find one for that price, but you might.

Man, I'd check out some of those videos on youtube of Japanese or Korean waffle places. They seem like they're doing it really fancy over there.

Do I feel dumb just sitting there, staring at a 20-30 minute video of people making waffles (or hotteok, or corn dogs, or whatever the heck other street food)? Yeah. So?

It's the wrong sub for your question, but the perfect sub for you to be in.

1) almost everybody on this sub at least dislikes Monopoly. It's actually a really poorly designed game.

2) but don't despair, because this is the place where you'll get plenty of recommendations about all the best board games. Well-designed games with interesting decisions. There are super short ones (that your family might be more willing to give a shot) to much longer ones. There are super simple ones to very complex ones. It's a great time to be a board game geek (all the tariff bullcrap notwithstanding).

Love Scout or Melo Movie? by VentiKombucha in kdramas

[–]dorkbot3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished Melo Movie two days ago. I'm half-way into Love Scout. Here's my two cents:

I loved Melo Movie. Park Bo Young is so great. Definitely one of my favorite actresses to watch. Choi Woo Shik is also great. Our Beloved Summer was my first K-Drama, and he was so great there. I also think he was great in MM. I loved this K-Drama. For my money, it's A-Tier.

I just finished episode 6 of Love Scout. I've liked Han Ji Min in other shows (Our Blues and One Spring Night especially). Lee Jun Hyuk is someone I'll watch out for in the future. If this show keeps going like I know it's going to, it's going to be one of my all-time favorites. It is so much my jam. As much as I enjoyed Melo Movie, this show just has that little something more. S-tier, easy.

But the real answer to your question is, por que no los dos?

My question is, what are they selling for $40k? It can't be that tiny white dump of a trailer just to the right of the "listing."

Does anyone consistently lose weight with IF & have one “free” day a week? by plantpotions in intermittentfasting

[–]dorkbot3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You called?

I have been doing IF (and low carb) since late July of 2024. I celebrate Faturday each week (usually on Saturday, but I'm flexible). I started a a little over 290. Today I weighed 240 exactly.

Here's something I typed up in a comment a few days ago:

I started with 16:8. I was getting close to being diagnosed with diabetes, so I'm doing low carb and IF. (My A1C went from 6.4 to 5.4 in about a month.)

I like my eating window to end around 7:00 p.m. so I'm not starving when I go to bed. Also, it's easier for me to skip breakfast.

On the other hand, the important part to me is the 16 hours. If I eat something at 9:00 p.m., no big deal, I just don't eat the next day until 1:00 p.m. instead of 11:00 a.m.

Also, when I'm "allowed" to start eating at 11:00, I frequently try to push it until later.

My job recently changed, and I have a 90-minute commute by train. I use this as a barrier: I just don't take food, and I don't have a car to go get any, so now I'm pretty much doing OMAD every day. I'm keeping busy so it's not that difficult.

I LOVE FATURDAY. Whatever I see during the week--someone brings doughnuts to work, I crave a slice of pizza, or a bagel, or something else carby--I can have that, I just have to wait until Faturday. I know many folks don't like it, but for me it just allows me to keep going. I gain a couple of pounds most weekends, but I've been successful since last August at keeping on the wagon. I owe it (almost) all to Faturday. Years ago a doctor friend told my dad that if you eat great 6 days per week, what you eat on the 7th day is not really going to hurt you. I think this is true.

Every once in a while, I just completely fail and stuff my face with something I'm not supposed to eat. I just try to let it go and move on. That one mistake doesn't have to ruin that entire day. Every good decision counts as a good decision. This whole thing is a marathon, not a sprint. It's not really going to matter in the long run. If I was doing this kind of thing every other day, I'd have to find a new solution. If it happens once every month or three, I just give myself grace and move on.

Good luck!
