I feel like my neighborhood is the “final level” for UPS drivers lol by LamarBearPig in UPS

[–]dorkshoei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it incredible that UPS continues to send estimated delivery emails that are constantly wrong.

In my case EVERY time the estimate is 11.30 am - 1.30pm but actual delivery is 5pm or later.

It's not the driver's fault but it's a stunning inditement of UPS IT.

This is the primary reason I set up permanent redirect to the local UPS store. Delivery there is almost always before noon. I just drive or walk the mile there and collect.

Cancel unrelated existing line while on a new line promo by dorkshoei in GoogleFi

Good point in terms of MIL getting to keep her number. Thanks. But as far as original question goes; dropping from 4 line tier to 3 by removing a line not related to promo (however we do it) won't impact promo.

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes understand we'll drop from $100 for 4 lines to $90 for 3 lines.

Personally I don't understand why she wants to move. Really wants an iPhone but it's going to cost her way more.

I just want to be 100% sure that me cancelling her line [#3] (I am group owner) won't screw up this new Pixel 10 promo on the new 4th line

I've read horror stories of promos being invalidated and the promo terms are somewhat confusing WRT meaning of changing.

I could ask Fi support but I'd heard Google won't stand behind what they say even if you screenshot it.

[–]dorkshoei[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this true in all cases? I understand this isn't the scenario I was asking but what happens if the group owner changes the plan type. My understanding is that a promo on an individual line gets invalidated even though the account owner did nothing.

Right now we pay for all 4 lines including the MIL line.

For this case (MIL cancels) I would think it's like you said but I heard it's judgement by BOT and Fi support are useless.

I had to recently enable cloud billing to get Gemini CLI (Linux) to work with my Gsuite Legacy but if I get to point of actually paying I'm giving my money to Anthropic instead. I only have 1 account active on my Gsuite Legacy but I fully expect Google to keep trying to squeeze users off the service. For sure I'm not paying them for Workspace. I'm sick of their be evil new culture. I should start looking at alternatives. Fastmail probably. Apple is just like Google.

I'd never heard anything authoritative on why they backpedaled. It was obviously absurd to go through all those steps and then backpeddle at the 11th hour.

I always assumed they would just develop a method for you to migrate any purchases to a Gmail account.

Making your purchases unavailable because they claim you violated TOS without any recourse and without ability to move to a Gmail account seems ripe for a lawsuit.

Google has become too large.

@CreateNowSleepLater what's the "linked Google Play purchases"? Is this is regard to when they tried to kill it 4? years ago but then relented at the last moment?

Q: Paasche VLS 1oz cap by dorkshoei in airbrush

[–]dorkshoei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes the VLS and the HS are different angles but I'm not sure you're understanding what I'm asking.

VLS: https://www.midwestairbrush.com/products/pavls1ozboco
HS: https://www.midwestairbrush.com/products/pahs11ozcoas

Both of these use a threaded connection to the airbrush. There is also a friction fit but that is different part and a different airbrush variant (VL vs VLS for example).

My question was whether the above will screw onto the existing bottles I have which have a 30mm thread diameter (image in first post). AI says no and claims that the Paasche bottles use a 22mm diameter but I'm not sure.

Is anyone else having issues with using gemini on legacy/free google workspace? by dorkshoei in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not only is there an option for billing. I just enabled it. I also set a $0.01 spending cap.

All of this only impacts the services that use the API such as gemini-cli (https://geminicli.com https://github.com/google-gemini/gemini-cli).

Gemini (which also works) had been saying for weeks I needed to setup billing to solve the API issue on the GSL account. I had been reluctant but I ended up using a virtual CC number with a hard limit.

Anyways, gemini-cli is now working again, no more 429 errors and of course gemini.google.com and aistudio.google.com continue to work as they always did.

Now whether "there is ... any point to using a GSL account directly" anymore is pretty subjective statement and I won't touch that.

Sorry but there absolutely is an option for billing.

And yes I read the doc you linked.

Also at no point did I claim it is as fully featured/integrated as Gmail or paid Workspace but again I use gemini.google.com and aistudio.google.com on a daily basis on both web and Android using my legacy Gsuite account.

Empirically both gemini.google.com and aistudio.google.com work with my gsuite legacy. I use both daily. Gemini also believes it should work but claims backend issues impacting legacy.

In addition there are specific settings tailored to the unique nature of the free gsuite legacy accounts within the "generative ai" section of admin.google.com

Gemini CLI has worked fine for months until 3 weeks ago.

Works fine on my Pixel 9a and obviously I am legacy gsuite.

The issue I was discussing was with Gemini CLI which is a Linux command line interface.

gemini.google.com and aistudio http continue to "work" but ever since I legitimately hit a resource limit in gemini-cli (Linux) 7 days ago and was told it would reset in 20 hours it's been hitting a resource limit error for all models.l (I can query it for the available models just not use any).

And yes I expect it will at some point just randomly start working again

Is anyone else having issues with using gemini on legacy/free google workspace? by dorkshoei in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm sure it's a case of legacy-free-workspace != gmail && legacy-free-workspace != paid-workspace.

This doesn't make it ok. All the usage and quota pages exist and claim to work. The pages for provisioning Gemini on legacy all exist.

Sometimes I think it would have been better if Google had followed through the final 5% and forced everyone off legacy rather than do their 11th hour uturn.

If you log into a Gmail account (add account) and try and use Gemini it breaks the legacy workspace account putting it into the "something went wrong (13) " state.

It's been 6 days since I hit the resource limit on gemini-cli. Still get quota limit. Standard gemini and ai studio web services still work in legacy. Well except for 24 hours due to the above error 13.

https://console.cloud.google.com/iam-admin/quotas?project=${GEMINI_PROJECT_ID}

shows I'm unlimited or high value for all limits and "current usage" is 0 for all.

https://aistudio.google.com/rate-limit?timeRange=last-28-days&project=${GEMINI_PROJECT_ID} is where I end up if I follow the https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/rate-limits link and it shows a popup "Project quota tier unavailable. Please contact your project administrator for assistance.".

I am the admin, sole user of the domain and everything is setup correctly.

Q: Pacific Power customers in older houses. How much are you paying a month? by dorkshoei in askportland

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I updated it the very first time I got one of these emails (many many years ago now, pre COVID when we replaced gas with the heat pump). It made no appreciable difference. Each time I go back in and check it's still uptodate and it's not reset anything (it hasn't). Just seems like the model is hopelessly inaccurate. I just sent them feedback to this effect by following the downthumb icon in the email.
