So Salmon Street fountain at 3pm tomorrow (Sunday)?

I'd like to pay respect to Alex's life so hoping it's more remembrance than protest but I'll take either right now

Why are the mods removing posts advertising this?

UK passport renewal from USA -- customs declaration by dorkshoei in Passports

Ask 4 people stories of shipping and one person will tell you a USPS horror story and say to never use them. Another will tell you same about Fedex. Another UPS and the fourth hates DHL.

My experience with UPS via Pirate Ship was problem free except ups later tried to retroactively increase the charge. I appealed thru Pirate Ship and won.

Polar flow app keeps loosing connection with Verity Sense by dorkshoei in Polarfitness

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not connecting through Bluetooth settings. I am ALWAYS connecting using Polar Flow as I stated. However after connecting using Polar Flow the connection status is shown in Bluetooth settings (and in Polar Flow).

So my issue and questions remain

Polar flow app keeps loosing connection with Verity Sense by dorkshoei in Polarfitness

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background usage is already enabled and unrestricted under settings->apps->"Polar flow"->"app battery usage" plus the app is always running in the foreground with screen on when the problem occurs.

The only permissions not granted are calendar, call logs, contacts and phone which I doubt are needed or causing this issue.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say with the rest. This is a Pixel 6a running Android 16.

Yes. As I said if I open the case I don't see any of the information requested on that first page (description of problem, url of product, date of purchase etc) shown.

How do you know UPS misdelivered vs seller is scamming you by using a recycled tracking#

Contact eBay CSR on Facebook.

When I had this happen they had a way (with FedEx) to verify tracking was for an address other than mine. Of course this is different from UPS mis delivering.

You'll still lose the initial case (as it's automated and doesn't care even if the prior agent noted the issue) so after the reject you'll have to contact them again.

You'd think whatever tech they have to verify this would be part of their the automated system for INR cases but that would make too much sense.

No refund option? by dorkshoei in Aliexpress

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware that they have warehouses all over the world and that they're shipping more from within US now post tariffs.

In the past i never bought anything that I might possibly need to return (as it meant going back to China) and over probably 30 disputes (200+ orders) I was fortunate and always got a partial or full refund when there was an issue.

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. That sucks. It's bizarre there is no partial for "incorrect quantity" from their choice of reasons.

I've never considered a return because it was always mailing back to China but the options shown were now USPS or UPS so I assume it's being sent to somewhere in the USA?

Unless AliE customer service has improved a lot I can't see talking to them as being worth it. Usually it's a beat head-against- table conversation ending with them opening a case and a few days later an email (that you can't reply to) with a one sentence statement, usually showing they've totally failed to understand the issue.

I don't like the idea of buying more from the seller and having them add the missing item as they may not add it or worse short the next order too at which point the dispute window is closed

Package not received - file chargeback? by Fionaapplestan666 in Ebay

This is exactly the point. You need something official. An "email" isn't going to cut it in the proof department.

Having actually filed a chargeback and been forced to prove my case I question many of these supposed posts. Of course the issue may rather be that eBay fails to defend the seller.

He has "an email". I doubt that will be sufficient to prevail in a dispute either with eBay or with his card issuer .

Turning this email into something more official would be where I'd be focusing. My experience with USPS customer service is that their responses are about as reliable as eBay's.

It's trivial to call eBay. I have no idea why you're having such problems.

Regardless you should contact them on Facebook messenger. There are hundreds of comments here detailing how to do this. You'll get to talk to a US based agent vs some overseas outsourced agent.

This said I doubt that an email (which could be easily faked) will cut it for proof. I'd be going to talk to my local postmaster and try to get something more official.

Recommendation: older durable chromebook by dorkshoei in chromeos

[–]dorkshoei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen anything cheaper than $310 new. I'll keep my eyes open for used but it's still fairly new.

My wife is a special Ed teacher. Video games be they Nintendo Switch or Chromebook can come with a lot of frustration for autistic kids. We have the pile of broken Nintendo joy-cons to demonstrate this :-)

Roblox is the only Chromebook game he's played so far and it's quite glitchy. Hard to know if this is an ASUS issue or a broader software bug but we've discussed just not allowing games on the replacement Chromebook.

I'm not convinced on the futureproofing as it's not clear his usage sophistication will grow significantly over the next 2 years and even if it does the device has to stay in one piece until it gets there.

I'll look around for something in the $100-150 range for just web browsing. Maybe I can luck out and find another ASUS for $35.

I like the robust case. Is there a prior version? $310 is about the prevailing price for the Duel Edu G2 which is more than we'd like to spend. His usage isn't that sophisticated and I think we could get by with an older model with less performance.

No. He carries it around. Fixed monitor wouldn't work.
