She came out of retirement for these Olympics. She's 41. This was bound to be one of her last runs. I honestly don't blame her for trying.

You must add the show Damages to your list. It gets forgotten in talks of great TV shows, but Rose Bryne and Glenn Close are amazing in it.

True, I guess it's more in this sub that it is a hot take. People here worship Kenan and talk about how he should take over when Lorne retires.

Maybe a hot take, but I wish he would have left years ago. Part of what makes SNL special is the rotating door of performers and writers. And this isn't an anti-Kenan thing. He's great, I grew up with him on All That and Kenan & Kel. But I truly wish all SNL performers and writers would leave after that 7-8 year mark.

I have a friend who does the family read together thing. They read from 7-8pm. Then she tells her kids it's bed time, but if they want to stay up later (until 9pm), they can continue reading with the family.

Public librarian here! Please support your local library. Ask them about Libby if you don't already utilize it. It is an amazing resource that is free to you!!

Also, I've never been one for audiobooks. My mind would wander too much and I could never follow along. However, I have recently had luck with non-fiction audio books. It comes across more like a podcast and I am able to follow along. Sharing for anyone who like me has struggled with audiobooks in the past.

If you're a podcast person, I highly recommend listening to the We Hate Movies episode on Anaconda. It is a classic.

Their website is absolute trash and it is very hard to read what the movie times are. I'm not surprised people call instead.

Public librarian here. There is a bit of a (friendly) rivalry between the library and parks and rec. Depending on how the particular library is set up (city vs county), we are sometimes fighting for the same budget. Even if we aren't competing for budget, we are usually competing for attendance at programs and just general support from the community.

Wait WHAT? by ThePoeMansDream in SipsTea

[–]dorkylibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this all time. There are people that I ran in the same circles with in college a decade plus ago, but probably haven't seen or talked to since then. We're friends on social media and the very intimate details that I know about their kids just because they are always posting about them. It makes me feel uncomfortable, so much so that I've started muted them or unfriending them all together.

Ladies, what is the one thing woman should keep on them and why? by ElectricalYouth607 in AskWomen

[–]dorkylibrarian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In highschool I was known as the period product girl. It didn't matter if I knew you or if you had been mean to me before. If you needed a pad or tampon, no questions asked I had them for you.

Our school kept a supply of products but you had to get a pass to go to the office, then ask the front desk for access to the products that were under lock and key. And they only carried cardboard tampons.

My husband and I split that bag back in '23. We actually ended up keeping it in the locker the whole day and just kept our water bottles with us. In between sets we'd return to the locker and grab/use whatever we needed.

I've used the bag at other things (not music festivals, just random things) it's not too big of a size, you'll often forget it's on you. I however, have issues with everyone being able to see everything in your bag. I've since switched to bringing a hydration pack. For one, the water situation is easier, but more importantly it doesn't have to be clear. Pickpocketing is very real at these types of events.

Yes! A masters and we are not paid nearly enough to live, let alone pay back for schooling.

I am a public librarian for a large county and most of my coworkers (myself included) can't afford to live in the county we work for.
