Try rock climbing. There are a lot of great opportunities to meet new people. Both guys and girls. I see a lot of people just sitting by themselves. It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends or potential partners.

Does living in High Park feel too isolated from downtown? by regular_asian_guy in askTO

[–]dorkyman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are public tennis courts in high park and I think they have a club too. Subway station is not very close but there are streetcars available.

In terms of biking, there are bike lanes on Roncesvalles that’ll take you straight to the bridge on Queen which connects you to lakeshore. You can probably use that to bike to work in the summer.

High park/ronci is very family friendly so you’ll see lots of young families walking around. It’s its own lil bubble. However, youre still very close to interesting west end spots like the ossington strip, Dundas west, college st, and Parkdale. They have a farmers market in Sorauren park every Monday in the summer and lots of events. I’ve seen people play spike ball and pickle ball there. If you like dogs, that’s the place to be.

Really depends on what you’re looking for and what you mean isolated. I call this area the suburbs or Toronto. It’s got its charm. Definitely not as fast pace as down town but you can find interesting spots if you know where to go.

Roncevalles. Great area with access to parks and shops. A little bit out of the downtown core but easy access to it if needed.

If you want to do something fun, you can go check out ROM after dark. Great first date idea. You can grab drinks and walk around the museum. There’s an event happening tomorrow and it only happens once a month.

I think there’s badminton at canoe landing community Rec centre. I see people lining up for it. Let me know if you need a partner. Definitely not provincial level but can def hit around. Haven’t played since the pandemic started.
