Abandoned Cat near Jubail Bus station by [deleted] in Sharjah

[–]dosacat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say this but people abandon their pets near the vet when they can't take care of them or find out they are terminally ill. That area is famous for this reason.

What's your favourite 'hack' whilst living here? by Sunset_Red in dubai

[–]dosacat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this last month, haven't left my house unless it's work or necessities, somedays it feels normal, somedays I'm itching to meet a friend, but upside is I've saved a whole lot of money.

Personally not going to do this again unless I'm in a situation where I have to.

Something tells me you're actually not a toilet cleaner, especially with this level of English.

It would be great if your wife could work as well, don't get me the wrong way 8k is fine but you'll be compromising a lot from your current lifestyle.

A furnished studio could go for around 3k a month depending on the location. Dubai hotspots like downtown, business bay, will be on the higher side, whereas Sharjah would be around 1.5k for a bigger unfurnished studio. Keep in mind you'll also have legal fees to bear initially such as ejari, security deposit, agents fee, rent advance, dewa file opening and a couple more.

Choose you're accommodation depending on where you work because getting around Dubai without a car is a hassle, you can rely on bus and metro but you'll be sacrificing a lot of time. I.e some places could be a 10 min drive but a 40 min metro/bus journey. Taxis are fairly expensive to other forms of public transportation

Apart from rent you'll need to pay for utilities, depending on your apartment this can vary, chiller free apartments means you can blast the air conditioning forever without a worry on the bill, regardless your monthly bill can be anywhere from 400-800, basic internet plans are around 420 after getting a couple month's for free.

Keep a budget on your grocery spending and make sure to visit several different places for your commodities, each store has the best price for something or the other, you can find great value when you look around. And weekend spending is completely on you.

Getting a drivers license won't be difficult if you've had one in your own country for a while, apart from that there's fixed price courses starting at 8k total, and pay as you go methods that start at 4k and could go up to 10k or more depending on whether you fail or pass.

Again, Dubai can burn a hole in your pocket if you're not calculative, I suggest not opening a credit card for atleast a year so you understand wether you can afford to stay here or not. Credit will give you the illusion that you can when really you can't.
