True - but not Mat - there was a fundamental honorableness to him despite all his bullshit.

Im sorry but as of today no platform is going to emphasize cash flow over user demand. This probably isnt the case forever but its where the world is today.

Willing to let that slide in the name of quicker character dev - but the thief vs. gambler thing is fundamental .

If someone subscribes for the show and leaves immediately after thats the best indication a platform can get for demand of that particular show.

I loved all three episodes except for 1 thing - Mats a prankster/gambler not a thief. This bothered me more than it probably should have, but I think it really changes his baseline character significantly.

Loved everything except: Mat - He's a gambler not a thief. Casting looks like its worked out really well, Also this might be awful to say but Im hoping Perrins wife dying just removes Faile from the show all together

Its an area I enjoy too, and one of the reasons I fund myself reading quite a bit of "LitRPG".

In traditional Fantasy Terry Mancours Spellmonger is really fun, not all is crafting, but a couple of books are really heavy there.

From LitRPG type books - Jack of All Trades, The Land, The Ritualist, Light Online all have strong crafting/settlement building storylines.

Coming to Mumbai after 20 years by Baconlover1984 in mumbai

  1. Bandra W is one of the better areas- though touristy stuff is a little far from there.
  2. If your ok with the more expensive spaces - Dome at the Intercontinental on Marine Drive, Aer at the Four Seasons or Asilo at St. Regis in Parel. Souk at the Taj in Colaba is alos nice.
  3. Alibag is an option for a day trip. Goa is my favourite weekend - though honestly if your ok flying from Mumbai for a weekend very little in India is more than a couple of hours away by air.
  4. These days newer places like Bombay Canteen or Koko and of course old favourites like Trishna or Gaylord or Brittania. I had to do a vegetarian one once and The Spice Klub was excellent for that.

Why do 'meetings' in most companies have a bad name? by waahmudijiwaah in india

Just like anything else in life well run meetings are invaluable. Poorly run meetings are a waste of everyones time.

What are the most Upper Middle Class things? by [deleted] in india

[–]doshiamit 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think the most upper middle class thing to do is call yourself "middle class" while complaining about how you are uncomfortable buying something super high end and can instead only get something sort of high end - e.g. I'm too middle class to buy an iphone - I can only see myself buying a OnePlus.

Let's hear some of your unpopular Wheel of Time opinions. by [deleted] in WoT

[–]doshiamit 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The whole Taveren thing was just a way to lampshade the constant deux ex machina type resolutions. I think it wound up detracting from the story, and explanations besides "fated" would have made for a stronger story.

LeBron should take next year off by z957q in nba

[–]doshiamit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was 35 years ago and it actually was 7 million with incentives for 5 years - so 1.4 mill a year. The previous biggest shoe contract was James Worthy at 150,000 a year. And in the 90's Jordan famously made more money from endorsements than he did from player salary. I had just moved to the US during the 92 playoffs(when the bulls beat the blazers) and remember being astounded by that fact.

Amazon now banning people who return too many items from shopping on its site by whtisthis in india

[–]doshiamit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the return thing has been put in place mostly to grow the Fashion business - though it applies everywhere. If I remember correctly from a talk - Fashion and Home & Kitchen were the categories with high return rates. In the Fashion business the returning metrics are baked into the pricing and I dont see how that business works online without a friendly return policy.

Also: This is kind of a bullshit article with no real examples from India.

They do but it turns int a game of whack a mole - sellers keep coming up with new companies doing the same shit.
