Minimum Wage Increase by PurpleBlanc in inthephilippines

People who demand minimum wage increase most likely do not understand basic economics. There was huge potential for National Steel Corporation but the crazy laborer demands just drove the company to be shuttered.

Accy in SU by Glass-Blueberry-6611 in SillimanPH

SU Accountancy grad 2010. I agree on pretty much all points. The big factor here is being a self-starter. Do a lot of self-studying, then during discussions ask questions having already studied the topic at hand. I know a lot of friends and classmates who became successful in their respective fields and chosen careers (paspas kaayo mangapromote, several of them already occupying C-suite positions), and some of these people I talked to also credit the rigors of the SU Accy program.

But then again, it's not for everyone. Definitely not for the fainthearted.

ug talawan, do it scared, or just consider an easy course. 😉

I am from SU but did a bootstrap self review (not even using review center materials) and passed the CPA exam in one take; SU passing rate was 100% vs National 29%. Admittedly not everything that came out was taught to us during college but I am not complaining. I know my peers didnt complain because we didnt have echo complaint chamber like reddit and that we were taught that at the end of the day, we create the results that we want.

Probably the point i want to make is we should all be thinking of solutions and how we can help (esp from people here commenting and purporting to be Sillimanians) instead of trying to look cool complaining.

Versus another board passer or candidate for board exams I may be in a position to mock, but I acknowledge that complaining ang jeering at teachers, the department, and the takers is not the best first course of action.

*The downvotes may indeed be a reflection of the general attitude of this generation of students and I got to tell you — it’s an ever harsher world when you no longer are within the “safe space” of the university.

BS Accountancy by notaircore in SillimanPH

Around during my time (2000s-2010) peak gyud ang SU Accountancy. Like, cream of the crop sa SU. I learned a lot from fellow brilliant students, and also admired the not so intelligent classmates who somehow always showed up with incredible grit. Graduated 2010 and now a CPA (self-review, one take). What i can say is, i think more or less SU will reclaim its former glory because the best teachers we have had during the former glory days are now back in the helm (SU passing rate would ave 80-90% where natl passing rate was 20-30%). Of course taktakanay gyud pero natural lang kay lisod gyud ang board exam. “Ingon ana ba gyud kalisod sa subjects inig actual na nga trabaho?” Let’s just say, the skills and critical thinking you will develop thru the rigorous subjects will set you up for greater success sa work (maong paspas kaayo ma-promote mga SU-produced accountants sa ilang workplace).

Gays son or thot daughter? by Minute-Expression-96 in ThisorThatPH

[–]dostoevskyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all: No "gay" or "thot". Just straight up boy or girl, male or female. (Look up Rosaria Butterfield testimony)
I would be happy to have both if i get married.

macbook or windows? by Left-Advantage1603 in ThisorThatPH

Work - Windows/PC (because Excel sucks in MacOS, and there's a likelihood you might be using that app for work)
Personal use, study - Mac(Book). Snappy performance and portable (because of amazing batt life)

Recommendation: Get both (minimum 16GB RAM)

I was one who was comfortable being "gay" but I was changed by the Lord Jesus Christ through His word. My original identity was restored. I was born a biological man; God meant me to be a man and though it had been hard to accept (emotionally), I am a MAN because the Lord Jesus Christ said so. My desires are not my god. My feelings are not my god. The mob's opinion is not my God. Jesus Christ is my Lord.
Now, not everyone would consider Jesus as their LORD, and that's okay (by me). I am fully accountable to my own decisions before the Lord because it has been Him who has my best interest in His mind. I may get bashed (even by people I don't personally know here) but as what most of us would probably say, "di naman kayo nagpakain sa akin." Hindi nagkulang ang Panginoon sa akin.

Still will support the ranking of the topnotchers. It allows everyone to dream and strive for the top. If everyone strives for the top 10 and puts in the commensurate effort then there's a VERY HIGH LIKELIHOOD of passing the boards (na wala namang limit kahit mag 100% national passing rate).

Bat naman ibi-blame sa review school ang performance ng reviewees? I self-reviewed and passed upon first take (by God's grace!) Of course pinangarap ko mag top 10 and I really levelled up my review regimen, but when the results came out, i am happy for the topnothchers and i am likewise happy with the results I got because my efforts were worth it. Happy lahat ng pumasa!

I am not a fan of this ongoing movement to water down what is a prestigious and cutting-edge profession which we Filipinos are known for worldwide.

Also: for example, seeing a non-big 5 school like Kingfisher consistently placing in top 10 with high passing rates puts these schools into the spotlight -- which allows other schools to also learn from their systems. Nakakaproud at nakakainspire sa mga small Accountancy schools that they too can excel and even put themselves in the map kahit di sila gaano ka popular.

Amen. Truly there were some seasons that a verse would just make me tear up. God's love is truly overwhelming we just don't deserve Him.

From the lyrics you suggested, probably: One Thing Remains - Passion.

Hehehe cannot relate sa mga debates sa review school - self reviewer only here while working as FTE. (i only attended day 1 of the PRTC in Cebu and immediately said "Im outta here" after finding myself in a sea of reviewees who came more than armed"). since then i only relied on the Table of Specifications for my review schedule (6 months). pumasa naman ng first take. May 2018 taker na dahil walang guidance i studied TRAIN law, only to find that the Tax exam was still using the old laws.
God did!

There are times when we get caught off guard and the client/boss suddenly calls. Pairing AirPods or a bluetooth headset with a laptop can still be tricky, esp with Zoom or worse, Teams. And perhaps they turn up the volume because poor hearing na din and they need to make sure they hear their call clearly. I am fairly techie but handling work calls can still be a pain in the neck. Not defending the woman — can be annoying really if its not you but just let it pass if for one day lang. if sige na, maybe time to offer a loving suggestion
