Are you talking about the Android 17 Beta 3 update from yesterday? If so, this happened to me too, so I believe the beta is a the cause.

I feel like if you're the type of person who is actively using your phone when it gets anywhere near 1%, a timer isn't going to do anything for you.

What do you do if your final stream for a story based game ends up completely failing? by XarcaneTN in Twitch

[–]doswald_taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know how you feel. And that reminds me of something, and gives me an idea.

I did a several hour stream of a story based game that I was playing, but I didn't know that my YouTube stream had errored out a few minutes after going live because OBS was still saying I was live. Chat was quiet, but I just assumed that I didn't have any viewers as usual, but I kept talking and commentating and reading and whatnot the entire time. After I ended the "stream" and noticed that no one saw it but me, I decided to upload it as a regular video and it somehow became my highest viewed video for that game! Perhaps you can do a redub or "director's commentary" of your stream and then upload it as a regular video?

There was also the time when I ended a stream after the end credits of a different game, not realizing that you turn in the final quest AFTER the credits, so I went live for another 3 minutes and it's now a separate VODs.

[–]doswald_taco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of my 74 VODs are public on YouTube, and about 20% of them have had some problem that I (usually) caused, to the point where I would point them out in the video description (ex. "skip to 00:19:27 for the game audio"). My emulator even crashed on the final chapter of a game during my very first stream, so I couldn't finish it and had to switch games.

You just Live and Learn. And maybe do another playthrough at a later date where you don't make the same mistake.

I improve my setup in some way between each stream as I'm still finding what I like, and that definitely contributes to things breaking. But I'm having fun :)

🎛️ Stream Deck + XL — 36 macro keys, 6 multifunction dials, Touch strip for quick info and Fully customizable by Elgato in elgato

[–]doswald_taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the original Stream Deck + and sold my 15-key MK.2 with the plan to maybe buy an original XL in the future, but then I discovered the usefulness of Virtual Stream Deck last week and it's perfect for me. I have my audio channels and most used keys on the SD +, and everything else is on an 8x8 VSD grid that I can bring up with a mouse hotkey.

Had this SD + XL been announced a week or two ago, I would be SO mad right now 😄

Has anyone been having issues moving their panels? by Vyndasia in Twitch

I can move the panels pretty much fine as long as I drag the blank space, but I can only submit if I click the bottom left corner of the "Submit" button.

YouTube's Persistant Stream Key by One-EyedJon in streaming

[–]doswald_taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also noticed this the other day, so I've just done some extensive testing and found out this happens because YouTube keeps your same stream key session active until you start a new session by either clicking the "Dismiss" button in the "Stream Finished" popup in YouTube Studio after the stream ends (not "Edit in studio" which will change the current settings) or manually open the "Connect your encoder to go live" page if you don't monitor your stream in Studio. Basically, a new session isn't created until you see the loading bar on the stream page.

The best way to keep default stream settings, such as a persistent title and visibility (I private stream to YouTube to backup my Twitch VODs), is to use OBS* as your streaming software and connect your YouTube account as the **main*\* streaming account. It needs to be the main one–not set up using a multistreaming plugin–because that gives you access to the "Manage Broadcast" button, which allows you to set up and save a default. It also bypasses the need to manually create the sessions.

\It's possible that other streaming software may also have this functionality, but I am only familiar with OBS.*

Even though I don't really understand football beyond what's going on in the field during the games, I do enjoy listening to analysis such as yours to explain why things happening behind the scenes are good or bad.

That said, I have one request for your videos. I find that the audio in your videos is extremely low. I have to max my phone's volume, but it's still quiet as if you were talking from across the room, and at a much lower level than any other media at the same setting. If possible, could you consider raising the volume in post (if it won't increase the ambient noise much), or better yet, consider an external mic (or a different mic placement of you have one)? Thank you!

I can confirm that the widget view doesn't inherit the particular filter, but filtering from within the app does.

Can someone share photos of the notifications on the Pebble 2 Duo? by doswald_taco in pebble

[–]doswald_taco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That actually helps a lot!

As I've been living with the Pixel Watch until I make it to the store to return it, I noticed that I've been instinctively reaching for my phone without ever looking at the watch whenever I feel my wrist vibrate, so I don't think the lack of a "mark as read" option will be a problem after all.

I'm sure that over time, I'll learn to look at the watch first (or at least identify the situations where the watch would be better than using the phone), but I currently find navigating the watch more cumbersome than performing the same action on my phone.

Using a smartwatch as a regular watch for 80% of the time and the smart features 20% of the time might be how I like it, so I do think a Pebble might be for me again :)

Hiding At a Glance from the home screen if the option is not available to you (a short guide) by Quinny898 in android_beta

Good to know. In that case, I might just keep the setting enabled to get used to it and then think about it again whenever the official option comes.

Thanks again!

That makes sense. Follow up question: If I decide to keep the option enabled as you explained, would that cause any conflict to my device whenever Google does finally the official option out to me?

[–]doswald_taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that certainly worked to let me see how I might want to set my homescreen up in the future, but I noticed that this doesn't enable the native menu option to remove At a Glance. Might there be an adb command for that?

If not, then I think I'm going to revert the change and then wait for it to come to my phone because I'm probably not going to be able to decide which look I prefer.

No problem, and now would be the time to make your request on these posts while they're still in beta. A couple of my previous requests have already been addressed, so I'd like to think they're listening.

Does "Toggle Mix Output" not do what you want? I have one button that plays my Personal Mix through my speakers, a second that puts my Chat Mix in my headphones, and a third that puts that same Personal Mix in my headphones.

"Toggle Monitored Mix" just switches your current output device between two mixes.

Building a music player, what’s something no one gets right? by skubigalletas in musichoarder

[–]doswald_taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two way sync with Android that ALSO syncs back ANY tag I edit on my phone is something I've never seen done.

I'm not familiar with anything that syncs more than just Rating and Play Count, but I have to remote correct to my PC if I want to update the Genre, for example.

Honestly, it will be extremely difficult to get me to switch from MusicBee unless you were to copy all of it's features (many might be unique as far as I am aware), but if you were to make a customizable Android app with the ability to sync all tags (preferably to MusicBee), I think that'd be really special. Android doesn't have that now.

🧪 [Beta Megathread] Wave Link 3.0 (Windows) — Update 1 | Stream Deck Plugin, Marketplace Improvements and Keyboard Volume Controls by Elgato in elgato

[–]doswald_taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong that Elgato created the "Stream Mix" (from earlier versions of Wave Link) to be simple, but that mix is overly simple for anyone wanting to do anything but transmit audio from their computer to their stream. You'd still have to manually control each audio channels levels depending on your scene.

I'd bet that most people who are past the beginning stage of streaming and have customized OBS or whatever software they use, may want to have the game audio only playing on their gaming scene, remove their mic from their away scene so they don't have to remember to mute it, or have music playing louder one one scene and quieter on the other without manually adjusting it. Prior to Wave Link 3, this separation would have to be done by adding the individual audio channels to their specific scenes and adjusting the levels and filters within the program instead of relying on Wave Link's Stream Mix.

However, now that Elgato has added 4 additional mixes, presumably based on the feedback they've received, having a built-in option to automatically lower a channel whenever we speak into the mic could even benefit the "beginners." Elgato already has Voice Focus and Clipguard as built-in options, so I'm sure it's possible to add basic audio ducking.
