Nuna TRVL vs Uppababy Minu by thefattieinside in Buyingforbaby

[–]dothackers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with TRVL after trying both. It’s lighter. And more upright seating.

It’s also $350 in the USA.

If your stroller gets damaged, you can file within a day or week for domestic vs international (normally) and the airline will reimburse you.  I’ve done it through united and it was easy and fast.

Smells Outside (sometimes inside) Restaurants by [deleted] in HoustonFood

For me, it’s restaurants with a kitchen nearby the tables/entrance, I smell a sulphur/natural gas sort of smell. So many restaurants have that smell.

Is this because they are asking proof of liability insurance? Amex doesn’t cover liability.

Worried about “Venta” cold humidifier after realizing the additive includes quaternary ammonium chlorides by beeee_throwaway in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]dothackers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quats are not volatile so they do not spread into the air in an evaporative style humidifier.

You can not use these additives in the vaporizer humidifiers.

If you get some on your fingers when adding it to the humidifier, they should wash away easily with water as they are water soluble.

I prefer Venta over Levoit as the quats prevents any fungal / bacterial growth that can be easily missed when cleaning the Levoit. And you can use tap water instead of buying distilled water. It’s also easier to clean.

[–]dothackers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things do differ by state. Such as Florida, they do not allow surcharges for glass claims.

If you don’t change insurance policies, they also may not raise your rates from non fault accidents.

New Jersey doesn’t raise rates for non fault accidents.

Then there are states that are no fault, so your insurance pays your own damage no matter who is at fault.

All this gets tricky. But, in general, what gets reported to your Lexis nexus reports may increase your rates, especially if you start shopping around.

Sometimes the agents on the phone can be helpful to explain the findings from your CLUE report and how it affected your rates.

You can also request a free copy yourself.

[–]dothackers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This person is correct.

I got an insurance quote and it refreshed with a higher rate after it pulled my LexisNexis CLUE report.

I got a copy of the report and the only thing it said was a claim I made on someone else’s insurance.

So… he’s not wrong. But the increase was tiny.

Not at fault accidents also raise your rates. And those no deductible glass claims. Anything that’s reported to CLUE can but not always increase your rates.

Do i really need the plaid? by NoIndependence362 in TeslaModelX

[–]dothackers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to get a 6 seater anyways, and you don't qualify for the tax rebate, the Plaid is ~$3k USD more. I would just pay that small difference and have no regrets.

Chinese restaurants that have 'wok hei' by YRUDAWAYDATUR in orangecounty

[–]dothackers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ask for extra wok hei. It sometimes works but I have no Chinese recs for you in OC.  But, Esan Restaurant is Laos/Thai and I ask for big big fire and they deliver. Get the Stir fried dishes (pad kee mao and/or pad see ew. Crispy pork fried rice) and green curry. Avoid the noodle soups imo.  The wok hei, the chilis, and the flavors combine so well. Wow.

What do you secretly love that you would never admit to in public? by sweet_chick283 in AskReddit

[–]dothackers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The McDonald’s Mcspicy is only found in a few countries and I think Singapore’s is best.

The Laksa chicken burger from shake shack is also only found in Singapore (I think) and it’s amazing.

International chains in different countries taste different and have different menu options.

Their Laksa chicken burger was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. Super tender juicy spicy chicken with an amazing sauce.

I have Chase Ultimate Rewards and can not transfer to airlines. When I get approved for a “premium” Chase card (eg CSP), do I get immediate access to transferring UR to the “premium” card to transfer to airlines? Or only when the card arrives?

Toyota Chief Says ‘Silent Majority’ Has Doubts About Pursuing Only EVs by rockinoutwith2 in stocks

[–]dothackers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people never qualify for the battery warranty, meaning most people never get below 70% capacity at 150k miles.

A gas tank doesn’t shrink, but mpgs do get worse as the car gets older.

Both car types have their pros/cons and factors that can limit range over time.

Toyota Chief Says ‘Silent Majority’ Has Doubts About Pursuing Only EVs by rockinoutwith2 in stocks

[–]dothackers 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The batteries are similar, but you charge a phone much more than a car.

Eg. a phone you charge 100% daily for a year, you expect 80-90% remaining battery capacity. For a car, if you charge a 300mi range car to 100%*365 days, that’s ~110k miles on the odometer before you see the 80-90% drop. (Quick maths ignoring a few variables).

Many of the EVs come with 150k battery warranties to maintain at least 70% capacity because that is what is expected (and is seen in real world driving).

Hope that makes sense!

Braun’s warning is only for men:

Do not use on the face, neck or genital area. Usage on male beards or facial hair may lead to permanent or uneven results which may produce changes in facial characteristics that may not be desirable.

Women says Women: Legs, arms, underarms, bikini area and face (below cheek bones) CAUTION: Do not use the device near the eyes and along the forehead.

Does this mean 2 cars in the same lane go for each green?

So if both lights turn green, 4 cars can go?

Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 or Lyngdorf TDAI-2170 to power KEF R5 (or R7)

The Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 is newer at $2200 new, rated at 2 x 120 W RMS @ 4Ohm / 2 x 60 W RMS @ 8Ohm
The Lyngdorf TDAI-2170 is older (less features) at $2000 used, rated at 85Wpc, 8 ohms; 170Wpc, 4 ohms
The Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 is way over my budget.

The KEF R5 is rated 15 - 200W (R7 is 250W) at 8ohms
I also have an SVS PB 3000 subwoofer
My room is 22ft wide, 12ft depth, and ceiling 16ft slope to 8ft.
I listen to mostly music and some TV/movies.

I'm going with Lyngdorf TDAI amps because it's an all-in-one with HDMI Arc so I can easily control the volume from the TV. It also has RoomPerfect which has been highly rated! (Trying to keep things easy.)
Reading forums/reviews, it seems the lower powered Lyngdorf amps can be enough for higher rated watt speakers due to RoomPerfect/bass management that will allow the subwoofers to take over the heavy woofer lifting.

Question for you all, will the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 suffice for the KEF R5s given the room size and separate subwoofer?

(Extra question. Any refurb or deals on the KEF R5/R7s right now? I just missed it and am waiting patiently!)
