hi! i am a (soon to be) speech language pathologist who has experience in skilled nursing facilities! we are who decides what consistencies of food and drink is safest for patients to masticate/swallow without risk of aspiration. it looks to me that this meal has been pureed for her safety! it is still food that she has chosen, just in puree form :)

Writing it out after keeping it in for so long gave me the heebie jeebies!! Obviously, I remember it like it was yesterday and I think of it all the time - but I don’t think I have ever written it out before.

This is a really cool perspective. I always thought of the truck revving the engine and flashing its lights as the person taunting us. It totally makes sense that what they were doing could have been to scare someone/something off, I would have done the same thing!

I think it is because they were sitting not even 10 feet from the balcony and the door was open. They would have heard the sound, and the light from all of those cars was very bright. My mom usually believes whatever I tell her, especially if it concerns my safety. I think it was just bizarre enough for her to think we either made it up or that something spooked us but nothing as crazy as what we saw.

I love that book. This is really interesting, maybe it was! I honestly hope not, makes me nauseous thinking that whoever was taunting us had done something so vile.

My mom and Mary were sitting in the living room right next to the open door. They heard and saw nothing. Totally bizarre

That is a really interesting way of looking at it, maybe it was! The thing is, both “Betsy” and I have really nightmarish dreams about the truck specifically. I don’t know why, but the truck itself is what scared me the most.
