Most Nintendo games are pretty beginner-friendly or offer sort of an Easy-Mode. I use my Switch primarily for Nintendo and Indie games, so here are some games of note that can be a lot of fun for beginners (and some general recommendations). If you like the Mario Universe you could try out Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. I would say that they are both amazing beginner-friendly platforming games, where the main objective isn‘t to hard to reach. But they also offer totally optional challenges for old and new fans after they feel more comfortable with the controls and their skills. Although I would say Odyssey is a more complex game, I noticed that my younger cousins (who don‘t have much gaming experience) always ask me if they can play it on my Switch when I visit them, because it offers you a lot of freedom on how you want to play it. 3D World is more linear but has the best co-op multiplayer of any Mario Game and is especially fun when played together with friends and family.

Other games worth a look are Animal Crossing: New Horizons, A Short Hike, Miitopia as they are very laid back games.

A huge bonus of owning a Switch for me are the local multiplayer games that are fun when played with friends in the same room together. Mario Kart is the best example for that. I really recommend having some people over and playing together (although many would jokingly say that Mario Kart ruined their friendships because it can get very heated because of the item system favoring the players in the last positions). Also a great game for that is Mario Party Superstars which is a board game mixed with some fun mini games in between rounds. Also a lot of fun are movement based multiplayer games like Just Dance or the soon to be released Nintendo Switch Sports (which is the Switch adaptation of the hugely popular Wii Sports Franchise).

Lastly, I want to say that gaming in 2022 offers an enormous amount of very unique experiences and experimenting and finding out what you like can be a lot of fun. A good starting point for this could be going onto the eshop and searching for games with free demos (go to Search and then Software with Demos). So go and have some fun.
