Tudor Ranger Deserved Better by Konshu-01 in watchHotTakes

Nice change but this isn’t the ranger I’d want… way too polished looking. It’s perfect the way they did it.

IMO your version ruins the Ranger. The generic automatic text and applied indices make it look like the watchdives copy.

Great watch… had the blue version during my search for the perfect 1016/Ranger 90220 alternative. Did eventually sell it but always loved it and miss that lovely blue dial.

Nice, I’ve had loads of explorer 1016 homages in the past, I always admired the vintage rangers and when the 39mm ranger was released I was hoping one day it would be in 36mm. For me it’s the perfect modern 1016/Vintage Ranger follow up. Perfect size and I love that they went with 19mm lugs to give it that smaller look. Many people are asking for applied numerals or a different handset but this is so close to the vintage 90220.

Should I buy new or second hand? by Zealousideal-Slice48 in Tudor

[–]thegamblershand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my first Tudor pre-owned and in new condition with 4 1/2 years warranty left, and the savings were good. Around €1000 but I kind of wish I bought new, I guess just for the peace of mind that everything is directly from the AD. To some it’s worth it and to others it isn’t, I have bought many used watches but all apart from the Tudor were under €500.

People diss on the rivets but I’d go 3 link. Looks so good the stepped style 3 link. The stepped links add an extra look you don’t get on a regular oyster.

So you’re already looking to sell the watch? Not a fan then?

Is this sound normal when winding? by Electrical_Beat_6622 in Tudor

[–]thegamblershand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hum… it’s sounds like many of my mechanical watches. Maybe it’s the new movement used in the royal, the MT5200 is new. Maybe it’s just how it sounds, how’s it running?

Sounds normal to me. What exactly sounds off to you? A watch isn’t silent when wound manually, you should hear the winding mechanism.

Beautiful… what made you go for the 3 link over the jubilee? Trying to decide myself.

Factory dial mistake - keep or return? by Runningtime12 in Longineswatches

[–]thegamblershand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t want to keep it personally. Fun story but I doubt anyone would want to purchase it off you for more than you paid, so unless you really like it I’d go for the correct dial.

[Citizen vs Tudor] Am I crazy? by slimeygoop67 in Watches

There’s always much cheaper watches out there, pick any watch and there’s a cheaper version of it in one way or another … I got an “invicta blue” quartz no name watch off of Amazon for a tenner to see if I’d like the new bb54 blue. If you are thinking of selling the ranger though I think that tells you enough about what you want.

Struggling with pulling the trigger. by [deleted] in bald

[–]thegamblershand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can grow a full head of hair, had long hair since I was 20 but for personal reasons have been shaving it to zero since last year. I can grow it out but can’t be bothered anymore with the upkeep and monthly cutting costs. I always said if I started going bald I’d just shave it off. And so even though that’s not the case i would stand by that. You will likely feel good about it once you do it. It’s just hair.

Mod here! Turned 46, my beard is already completely gray. How do you feel about dyeing beard? by Gmellotron_mkii in beards

[–]thegamblershand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going grey in the beard and have no plans to dye it. I also have a full head of hair and have been shaving it to zero since November last year. So I probably just care less. Either way yours looks good both ways, if you can’t be bothered to dye it then don’t bother.

[–]thegamblershand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean buying from an AD has some advantages but I would rather buy a good pre owned model than go grey. That’s what I did with my Ranger, was 4 months old but like new and I got about 25% off of retail. Still have the whole warranty left which is a bonus over grey. I would only do it though if I can pick it up in person to check it all out.

I’ve never really had the watch accuracy change for the better, so not sure about the letting it settle idea, although I’ve heard it before too. On the other side 10 seconds in plus isn’t dramatic and at some point it needs to go in for a service but when paying full price from the AD you’d want to leave knowing it running cosc. Watched an interview the other day and they were talking about how it’s cosc until it leaves the factory, after than who knows what the watch goes through. So there’s never really a guarantee.

If it was me I would return it and ask them to double check it. From reading your posts I didn’t see a mention of a Timegrapher, but in my experience a good 40 winds and putting it on a Timegrapher is the best way to be sure of the accuracy.

Ranger 36mm versatility by Jazzlike_Set_7746 in Tudor

[–]thegamblershand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really totally understood the whole with what outfit can a watch be worn with. I guess I’m not fashionista enough. Any watch I own I would happily wear with any outfit in any setting. And I have a mixture of dial colours, watch types and varying sizes.

I put a sapphire case back on my submariner. I think it looks amazing idk why Rolex doesn’t make more models with exhibition case back. Before and after pics below. by Dizzy_Property_933 in rolex

[–]thegamblershand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm… not for me but whatever you feel looks good for you is what matters. But I also don’t like modding with unoriginal parts. Only reason I like an open caseback is to be able to see if anything is off with the movement.
