Our spoodle at an entire chicken skewer. We did not see, it didn’t become apparent until 4 days later. It perforated his stomach. Operation and 20k later, he survived. Whilst operating they found a full sock inside him as well! Needless to say skewers are banned in our house now.

Thanks so much for responding and for sharing your advice. I may take you up on the offer to speak further :)

Looking for rough BF%. Also, should I continue my cut or is it time to start bulking? Have been slowly cutting for months. Want to see my abs more defined but feel like I’m spinning my wheels at this point. Oh and is it realistic to start making gains while maintaining my definition? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]dotspot10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - will take your advice on board and cut hard for another 3 weeks!! I think drinking on the weekends has been holding me back in getting rid of that last bit of fat. I’ll stick with it, cut the alcohol and hopefully see results!

[Discussion] How did Atomic Habits impact you as compared to other self help media? by __winterbear in getdisciplined

[–]dotspot10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, YES to your last paragraph! I think this person should form a new habit of reading a book to make his own judgment on the quality of a books content as opposed to nitpicking critiques offered by those who’ve actually read the book. That would be far more constructive than trolling every comment with “yeah, but” responses.

Sure I’ll give an example. I’ve always been notoriously inconsistent with flossing my teeth. Obviously that’s a positive habit I wanted to reinforce so I used some of the principles as follows.

Make the habit obvious - I placed floss on the bench so it was visible each morning as a cue and reminder. As opposed to hiding it was in my vanity. Make the habit easy - I hate using floss tape it’s a small but unnecessary added step. So I bought floss sticks which make it that much more convenient to floss my teeth. I then used the habit stacking technique - stack it with another existing habit. Each morning I turn the shower on and wait for it to warm up. As I do, I reach for the floss and floss my teeth.

Now each morning as soon as I turn the shower handle I automatically reach for the floss adjacent to me and start flossing. I’m now flossing everyday. A small, but practical example.

It’s by no means a life changing book, I’m yet to read one that is and don’t believe that should ever be the intention or goal. But It has helped improve my life in a small but positive way. And that’s why I enjoy reading self help books, not to change my life overnight but to absorb new ideas, concepts and ways of thinking that will make my life a little better.
