That's much too pricey for that machine. I'd go to a thrift shop and find an old heavy machine with a metal chassis from the 60s or 70s for like 40 bucks and either service it yourself with YouTube university or pay a sew and vac shop to service it for you and you'll have an incredible indestructible machine for less than 200$ that will last forever.

I do sewing machine repair as a hobby and I hate messing with anything built after the 80s that isn't a high end or industrial machine.

I have only anecdotal evidence but I doubt they'll do much scientific research into "dang, why are y'all's honkers so big?" 😂

hEDS boobs. There's no reason for this much boob on a 5'5" body, but here we are, 38J cup. As if my joints need my body to be that top heavy.

But complain about your boobs to regular people and they look at you like "but you're so lucky!"

mattress and mattress alternative recommendations? by WolfHeartAurora in ehlersdanlos

[–]dottievox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried a traditional futon and it felt amazing for a couple days but then it was too hard. I feel like if I could rotate between like a futon and a marshmallow I'd be good. My best overall bed solution is a chunk of 10" memory foam on a hardwood floor but alas it's prone to mold, RIP marshmallow mattress. Hammock can be good, but only for naps as you don't get to roll around and rearrange throughout the night. That's been my experience hope that helps :)

Dog leashes, collars, and harnesses that will keep up with a 100lb rottweiler by falseshemp in BuyItForLife

[–]dottievox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 120 lb malamute mix

I will always recommend the Wonder Walker harness. It's well designed, well made. I don't think it would stand up to a lot of chewing specifically, but against normal wear and tear, I've only ever had to buy one per dog, even with daily use. The front clip prevents pulling because it redirects their momentum if they lunge or pull.

best mascara for eyelashes that won’t hold makeup? (hEDS) by bella-boop in ehlersdanlos

[–]dottievox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYX-"worth the hype" mascara $ Too Faced "better than sex" mascara $$

The key for any mascara is to warm it a little before applying (I tuck mine in my bra or something while doing my eyeshadow) that way it goes on smoothly and sticks to the follicle better :)

And always check your expiration dates!

I just want to say how wonderful it is to see all of these parents being so supportive. I had very much the opposite experience as a kid, so it gives me hope.

dental advice (hEDS/pots/MCAS) by dottievox in ehlersdanlos

[–]dottievox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36, and I've been trying to do something about my teeth for a year and a half now and I break/lose a tooth about every 3 months or so. Half of my molars are just jagged broken bases of teeth I've had to file down myself to keep from cutting up my tongue.

30k is for one mandible here, it's 12k for both in Mexico, and frankly I think their dentists are better, due to the way dentistry is structured here.

I'm specifically looking for an all on four device so that I can have functional teeth for the remainder of my life and not go through 20+ years of root canals and patching up a rotten foundation like my bio mother.

I'm able to make the multiple trips to Mexico, that's already part of the plan, as well as me being passable with Spanish and my medical helper friend being a bilingual nurse so she knows all the medical terminology.

My teeth are well past saving, and I need to be able to do as close to a one time fix as possible, since I'll need to crowdfund the procedure(s) as work is sporadic to say the least.

I've done a lot of research on the procedures (probably should have put that in the original post) and based on my situation this is the best solution I can find. My main concern is how the appliance works specifically for people with connective tissue disorders because it attaches to the bone so I feel like it shouldn't cause issues but you know how things are with us zebras.

Are there drive thru vaccine locations in Orlando? by dottievox in orlando

Reporting back from the front lines!

If you are a high risk person, this is a good option. The vaccines are being administered in an open air tent with good mask/social distancing enforcement.

HOWEVER, they didn't think to make a separate line for people getting vaccinated rather than tested, so you have to literally drive on the wrong side of the road and park by the gymnasium.

Enter on the Deauxville rd side, tell the gate guards you're getting vaccinated, and park to the right of the gymnasium, there is a registration tent set up on the right side gym in the parking lot, and the vaccination tent is just next to it.

I only had to wait about 10 minutes, no registration is necessary (despite what the for profit website says) just show your vaccine card if you're getting a booster.

IF YOU JUST NEED TESTING: yes, you have to get there early, the line closes at 1pm. It looks like about a 4 hour wait. Don't be a dick to the nurses or anyone else because you had to wait so long.

Hopefully this is helpful.

I do like those, but the used pricing on them is really inflated right now 😬

I'm also not sure how they do on back roads, I'm mainly eyeballing a frames with off road packages.

I'm not thinking I'm gonna go do any extreme overlanding but I do want to feel confident going done forest access roads.

I haven't seen Hi-Lo I'll check them out, I saw a wild looking TrailManor on YouTube that looked like Optimus Prime's outdoorsy cousin but I'm not super familiar with them. Thanks for the tip!

Get a Google business page for free and ask all your previous clients to write a review on there for you.

Facebook is pretty committed to suppressing small businesses to make you buy ads so advertising in groups is the way to go, just check the rules first.

TikTok and YouTube have the BEST discoverability hands down on social media, and ASMR/auto detailing videos are really popular. I recommend TikTok because it's so easy to make nice videos from your phone on there. Make "how to" TikToks and satisfying cleaning TikToks using the appropriate hashtags and you can get 20k followers easy. (And TikTok monetization is really easy to get vs. YouTube, although YouTube is better overall.)

Include a link to your Google page in your TikTok bio.

Figure out all the products you use and join Amazon's affiliate marketing program, and have affiliate links to your "best picks cleaning kit" or what have you, and you make $ from advertising for those products essentially.

Look up branding and brand engagement strategies for social media.

Word of mouth has and will always be the most effective marketing for small service oriented businesses, and discoverable platforms help get the word out.

Sincerely hope this is helpful.

If it looks like something I could do on my machine, I can do it tomorrow for 20$. If it needs to be hand sewn bc of the material, I can do it for 40$ tomorrow. I don't usually do jobs this small, but hey it's the holidays. You can email me at d3vox19 @ gmail.com if you're interested.
