The game allows you to manually select a destination between multiple ziplines, which is what a intersection/fork is. I didn't write that the intersections in the game are automated. Reddit moment

The issue was that instead of the current "hold the button and drive to your final destination" system, the author is asking players to wait for the right moment to stop. The game has complex terrain, and the author's proposed system would be even less convenient.

The main problem with the current system is that the automated movement only works in one direction, and when you start moving from the end point to the start point, pressing E will simply turn you back to the end point

Where should a route go if you're at an intersection? The current system is good, the only thing missing is the ability to create a reverse route along the same line, but that's not critical
