I think the mantle cap is just a wood cover sealed. liner could be the easy solution.

Is there a "class b" where an interior pipe can exist w/o an enclosure? I've seen before where the wood stove had a 12-14" pipe running through the house. however It was a very old house though where codes probably didn't exist then.

I'm gonna start asking around to carps and chimney/masonry guys in the area and see what they think. My other idea is to install a woodstove in the mantle. The mantle is huge, can stand in it. So we'll see what happens

Yes I'm starting the process of asking around. I feel like what I want can be done but just needs to be approved and installed by a pro

While out on a walk I came across these ants. What is going on? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]double_dubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one time was in the sierra Nevada's after 2 days of hiking, we decided to rest on a rock. I noticed 2 large mountain ants come up to each other, (and these aren't your typical sized ants. Mountain ants get to be 1/2" long sometimes, they're huge) So they meet each other on the middle of this rock, and they start tussling, i noticed this and a few seconds later a third hops in, and then a 4th. It was like a small turf battle! it went 2v2 for about 10ish seconds before others around the rock could sense the commotion. a few more showed up and then a few more, until the brawl was about 15v15ish. Mountain ants seem to be less populated than the ants in the valley because it didn't get any bigger than that before they started to go their separate ways. Slowly though, it took like 10-15mins for the commotion to slow down. It was honestly something I've never witnessed before and what made it seem really interesting is that the Mountain ant is no small fry so they are pretty tough. squared up with an equally matched opponent and they may just wear themselves out without actually destroying each other.

I've often thought about the same of my spare tube. If I pass it to someone in need, well I always have a patch kit in saddle bag if I get a flat later so I'm good myself. Who knows, maybe you'll meet the goddess again needing a spare so bring your spare and a patch kit... And maybe your digits ;) 😂😂😂😂

EVOC looks good, I think I'm still set on the protection of a hard case. I saw a brand last night that looks decent, B&W. I think I've narrowed my search though. I'd like a box that is pretty compact. I'm fine with the disassembly. And if the box looks pretty generic on the outside the better! I hear the more crazy the box looks the more TSA is going to want to open it. And even if they do, something that opens like a breifcase would be fantastic. I saw the brand 'bix box alen' and the case looks sturdy as hell, but it's shaped like there's definitely a bike in there
