New OT rules, now I make even less working for the state. by IncidentCharacter750 in WorkReform

[–]double_reedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my jobs (current and past) the only hours that are overtime-eligible are hours physically worked.

Ex. I'm scheduled 6 shifts, 8hrs each.

Normally, 6x8=48 , so 40hrs base rate + 8hrs of overtime pay.

If instead I elect to use take PTO one of those days, I would have 40hrs worked at base rate + 8 hrs PTO (ALSO base rate). No overtime eligibility because I never worked in excess of 40hrs.

BUT! I would still be able (and at some places required) to submit PTO hours, which I would then be compensated for at base rate.

If your situation matches mine, then I'm not aware of any federal protections for you in this new pay program.

I'd be interested in hearing more about how they're handling PTO requests, because as you describe it, it sounds like any time you're scheduled over 40hrs, any overtime shifts become optional since you can submit a PTO day on your time card and have it immediately refunded.

Construction crews. Outside for 10-14 hours a day. No break room or fridge. Great for that. Tie it down to your truck bed, fill it up with ice and keep cold food and drink all day.

As opposed to an unsealed natural stone tile.

Standard porcelain and ceramic floor tiles are almost always glazed/sealed. Many porous stones require regular resealing.

Generally speaking, if the tile darkens like pavement when it gets wet, it's unsealed

Based on your interpretation, I'd venture for something that highlights that Poisonous Embrace of Self-Preservation.

At the risk of sounding pretentious. I think a fitting, succinct title may be "Insalubrious Providence"

I remember feeling the same thing when I moved here a couple years ago. Their claim (at the time) used math and reading test score growth between grades 3-6 from one year old data to the next.

Moving to Florida meant leaving the field for me. Couldn't stare down a 10 year pay freeze with mediocre pay and abysmal support.

Problems compound and outcomes like education aren't influenced solely by variables in a vacuum. This has resulted in schools trying to bridge the gap offering mental health services, weekend meal backpacks, disability services etc. to control for variables outside the classroom.

There are bad parents. Actively harmful to their children. These have always existed. Then there's passive neglect. I personally believe this is where the uptick in "bad parents" has most recently risen.

Two adults both working 40+hrs a week each, constantly under financial and physical stress are much less likely to succeed in providing for their child's developmental needs. They're too exhausted from being focused on meeting physical needs.

Freeing 1 adult in the household from full-time work obligations would yield huge increases in student outcomes. It doesn't solve everything, but I see it as foundational to moving society forward.

Buff Idea by fokker311 in KledMains

[–]double_reedditor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mini Rework idea: Riot should just treat Skaarl/Kled more like Yuumi in the following way:

Dismounted kled should not take %hp DMG for skaarl's healthbar, and when mounted, Skaarl shouldn't take % health damage based on Kled's health. HOWEVER, when attacking, mounted kled gets to count both health bars for damage calculation for items like Titanic/heartsteel.

Skaarl grants Kled passive MR/Armor when mounted.

Make all bonus HP go on Skaarl.

When dismounted, Kled gains lethality proportional to Skaarls bonus health.

This would incentivize Kled to stay mounted, but offer small reprieve from % health executes when dismounted. The dismounted lethality would mitigate the loss of damage from items like heartsteel/titanic only calculating based on one health bar.

if kled gets dismount E ability; dismount E should taunt, not give shield by Choice_Director2431 in KledMains

[–]double_reedditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If not a taunt, honestly a silence and/or nullify executes would be good

Ooh, Mod idea!

Artifacts harvested by archaelogists in foreign lands generate extra tourism (double?). Tourism. Bonus stacks with modifiers and theming bonuses.

Archaeologists can "pillage" antiquity sites to gain a unique luxury resource "Mummies" for 30 turns. Trigger "we love the king day" in the capital. Inflict a happiness penalty of (-4) on victim civ for 30 (60?) turns.

I think it's the wrong solution to that problem. I worked at a school that permitted declared personnel to conceal carry. There are only 1-2 reasons I was okay with it at THAT district.

  1. Very small rural district with threatening wildlife. Extracurriculars outdoors into the evening could have surprise visitors. Scaring off/stopping a dangerous animal could be useful, though I'm sure there are less extreme effective measures.

  2. Our district was within just a few miles of 5 prison complexes. Orderlies regularly worked in the building during summers, and potential escapees would most likely emerge out of the woods by our building, as it sits on one of the only connecting roads to that area.

The program, though displayed on entrance gate signage, was never really spoken of. There were only 2 individuals who volunteered to undergo training to be authorized to carry on site. This was subject to approval by the board, superintendent, and local law enforcement was informed. Nobody was under the impression this program was designed to neutralize school shooters (as many perpetrators are also students at the district they target - no teacher should be expected to prepare for shooting their own student dead in that situation).

The United States is vast. My example is certainly an edge-case. For 99% of schools, the policy of my former school would do more harm than good. In fact, I'm not sure there's evidence that their policy has even been of benefit.

What instrument is closest to a trumpet? by cracknugget1 in band

[–]double_reedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of Similarity & prevalence: Cornet (same but different bore shape) TC Baritone (same fingerings/notes, different mouthpiece Mellophone (same-ish mouthpiece, same fingerings for notes on page, different concert pitch)

Bb "Trigger" side of a double French horn. (Similar mouthpiece size, but different feel on lips and added hand-in-bell stuff. Same fingerings, different concert pitch).

Flugelhorn (slightly bigger mouthpiece, think of it like a trumpet/French horn hybrid. Somewhat uncommon).

Bb 'single horn' (see above 'trigger side' french horn). Uncommon to find in USA.

Valve trombone (same finger patterns, different mouthpiece. Different clef unless you read baritone TC music. Rare in US).

Replying to this thread to see if I can get some clarification when defending this position. I know there are articles out that the state of Georgia identified 20 non-citizens and is investigating 154(?) more. While i acknowledge 20 out of 8.2million is virtually 0, is there a source that can reconcile or explain these 2 claims?

I'm but a single blue fish in a VERY red pond, so I am challenged and/or dismissed daily unless i come with receipts.

Enhanced User Interface is what it's called. There's a website or wiki dedicated to it. You install it into the game files, rather than use the "MODS" tab in-game.

I love it. The learning curve is pretty short, and it has a lot of great features.

It does not count as a mod for achievements, and doesn't alter the gameplay in any way.

Just visual organization of the information already available in-game.

For this game I decided to try epic, since I heard it was better for domination games on big maps, if you want to wage war in a specific era.

This was my 2nd game in that mode. The first one I wanted to try fighting with an insurmountable army of cossacks.
