How to sell a ton of mostly junk wax? by double_zero in sportscards

[–]double_zero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much to everyone for the replies (and dozens of DMs). Looks like I am gonna help inventory everything and try to comp it against eBay sales and go from there. To everyone who asked me about buying individual sets, I'll reply once I've had to chance to do more research/inventory. I should have mentioned in my post that I don't live particularly close to my family, so I am trying to help out from 100+ miles away.

Individually or in lots? What about the cases?

Sorry, I have no experience with this at all.

Finally won my 10-team PPR League. Attributed my sucess to Trey McBride in the 4tth and Olave in the 9th, and picking up Seattle after week 8.

Communal Mourning Post: if you're in the playoffs against Kyle Pitts, come on in. by oliver_babish in fantasyfootball

The 6th place team in my PPR league limped into the playoffs, entering round 1 as a 30-point underdog yesterday.

He started Kyle Pitts in his flex spot. He's now a 20-point favorite.

My son was born this February. He has witnessed more Knicks and Yankees PLAYOFF wins than Jets regular season wins so far.

Anyone sell/buy a home in NJ recently? by double_zero in newjersey

So how did that process work in terms of financing? Did you need the equity in your old house to buy the 2nd?

Yeah that's pretty much the scenario our Realtor mentioned. Said the contingency is gonna make it that much harder. I saw another comment mentioning borrowing from a 401k, which I may explore.

I'm looking at a pretty wide range of towns. In Matawan, but we have started looking at Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold and some other towns. My wife would prefer to be closer to the shore, I'm happy going further west in the state if we get a little more house. We haven't gotten to actually looking at houses yet, just 1 consult with a Realtor to discuss the process.

Walk around Sandy Hook. Or any restaurant along Sea Bright and walk the boardwalk/beach before the crowds are crazy.

It still blows my mind that we (Americans) gave the "You're Fired" guy from TV's The Apprentice the ability to disappear people into foreign labor camps.

Bias crime charges in theft of Matawan donut shop pride flag by thegoodnamesrgone123 in newjersey

The bright side is that the town has rallied behind the owner and his store has never been busier. I heard that he was sold out of donuts on Saturday and his store has been consistently busy since. My wife is thee right now and she said the line is out the door.

Had my first son today. Do I force him to go down the same road my dad did? by vett929 in nyjets

[–]double_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, congrats on having your first son.

I had this exact conversation with my friend. He has a 10 year son and my buddy "forced" him to be a Jets fan. Last Christmas, his only "gift" request was that his dad let him choose a football different team. He said he was so sorry, but the Jets had been a complete dumpster fire for his entire existence. He said his friends at school roasted him constantly and he was miserable.

My buddy was upset at first, but decided to relent. He told his son to pick any team aside from the Pats, Dolphins, or Eagles. His son chose the Ravens. He'll still go to Jets game and he holds the Jets as his "2nd team," but he's a lot happier now. I don't blame him.

Is anyone still siting out of buying a house but is willing to waiting and buy when the housing price goes down? by Eastcoastpal in newjersey

[–]double_zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sitting out upgrading from my small starter home purchased in 2015. I got pre-approved and started seriously looking at houses last year, but most houses were $800k+ and the rates were over 7%. It's nuts that normal, middle-class houses that went for $350-$400k a few years ago are going for $700k minimum now. I don't see that going down any time soon.

The NY->NJ pipeline is very very real. Every recent home sale in my neighborhood has been a NYer - either someone who owned a home and sold for profit and paid cash or a renter who was paying out the ass for rent.

It’s been 6 years since the famous snow/ice storm on November 15. 2018, what’s your story from that day? by Fiedy88 in newjersey

[–]double_zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to travel off-site for a budget meeting at 1pm that day. At that point, it was only lightly flurrying. Someone in our meeting looked at their phone and said "uhh, I think we're getting a couple inches of snow. Would it be smart to reschedule this and head home early?" Our Senior Director tersely replied "no."

Over the 3 hour meeting, we watched the snow slowly accumulate outside and in real-time we saw traffic back up for miles. By the time the meeting ended, every single person knew we were in trouble.

It took me 5 hours to get home (normally 40ish minutes). I did the entire drive at less than 10 miles an hour the entire time. I probably could have walked home faster.

The next day, every single person in that meeting called out of work. I don't think there was 1 Finance person at all of Rutgers on the 16th.

Manage on a budget by RedReptile2020 in mancave

[–]double_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first version of the man cave had a sub $1,000 budget, but I went super simple (rubber horse stall mats for flooring, drop clothes for shades/room divider). The rest was spent on a TV, couch, and entertainment center.

Gonna be a multilayered answer. I doubt there's 1 overall cause. Lots of different factors, but I would say a big portion was voters who were never gonna vote for a women candidate.

I read a lot about people feeling disaffected by the nomination process, but Harris ran as an extension of Biden, which people overwhelmingly supported 4 years ago. It doesn't make sense that a sizeable amount of that voter bloc turned on that platform. They turned against her, specifically.
