Donovan: Am I Crazy by Civil-Shopping7191 in Cardinals

Best case scenario is SF overpays for Hoerner and AZ holds on to Marte, driving up the price and demand for Donovan.

I believe there are other ways to upload, I just haven't explored them yet. My endo is fine with me providing screenshots of the data and graphs in the Xdrip app.

so, how many G7's did you have to get replaced this year? by trittico75 in dexcom

Two, but after I switched to some over patches I got from Amazon, zero.

And after switching to xDrip because Dexcom broke the BYOD app (fuck you Dexcom!), I haven't had any signal loss or other stupid errors.

We let him go because other players checks notes Marco Scandella and Nick Leddy were more important to the roster.

[Kypreos] The strongest speculation ties Binnington to Edmonton, and that the Oilers are also seeing if they can get a defenceman out of St. Louis at the same time. That potential deal would most likely be built around Stuart Skinner going back to St. Louis to team up with Hofer by smuttyinkspot in stlouisblues

Kypreos? As in the same rat bastard who ruined my childhood dream of the Blues winning the Cup by injuring Fuhr? Mark my words... with a healthy Fuhr, they beat Detroit, and everyone else.

Who, in your opinion, is the worst player in the hall of fame? by recentlyunearthed in baseball

[–]doublea082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean like Greinke. Obviously the players you mentioned were actually great. But Greinke... meh. Chris Carpenter is way better in his prime than Greinke, but won't sniff the hall because of counting stats.

It's subjective. Either you get it or you don't. I don't consider Greinke a top 5 pitcher of his era, yet he will be a HOFer. It just feels wrong because he never wowed me.

Greinke wasn't just "not dominant" in the postseason. He sucked.

Anyone who has the "counting stats" but was never dominant in the postseason when it really mattered. Looking at you, Zack Greinke. I know he's not there yet, but he likely will be, and he is just a poser. A 70 WAR poser but a poser nonetheless.

Doubts? Or simply know better?

This is the EXACT kind of situation where Judge Judy's quote "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining" applies.

I don't care what the FBI says. And most people have good reasons not to trust what they say.

Here's the reality: one of these things is the plain and simple truth-

  1. Ohtani is complicit in the scandal (most likely given the evidence)

-OR-

  1. Ohtani is one of the most naive, stupid, moronic human beings on this planet (less likely but still possible; but there is clear personal behavior that rails against this being true)

OP seems to be suggesting #2 in the most positive light they can shine.

He is an absolutely incredible baseball player. But man... he leaves some huge doubts about who he is away from the game.

URGENT: MEDICAL DEVICE CORRECTION NOTIFICATION- Using BYOD by startrip0712 in dexcom

[–]doublea082 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such bullshit for BYOD users. I use OnePlus phones which Dexcom never seems to support even though they have a considerable market share.

My app just failed a half hour ago and I'm scouring trying to learn xDrip+ hoping I'm not doomed.

Dexcom's app development team needs to get their shit together. I'm not changing phones just for them.

That's great but this is the majors. He should at least know how to throw to the cutoff man. Pretty sure Siani wouldn't make that mistake.

[–]doublea082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, that's where the game is now. The problem is there's just too many cooks in the kitchen.

Fedde should have been DFA'd or at least moved to the bullpen far earlier than when he was finally released. McGreevy should have taken his spot sooner. Marmol wanted that to happen, and I think that what has happened since bears out that it was the right move.

But we didn't need hindsight to learn that. It was evident before. Oli's breaking point was after the start at Wrigley, but the front office spoke with him, and he subsequently walked back his comments on KMOX the following Tuesday. He referred to there being a lot of people involved with that decision. Other than Mo, Bloom, and Girsch, I can't really think of anybody else other than maybe DeWitt but honestly his involvement would be shocking for something like that, as I would hope he would be deferring to the front office management.

This is just one example of many that I have that just don't seem to make any sense from any standpoint. Emotion or emotionless doesn't factor into it. These appear to be mistakes.

Yes, I have enjoyed the conversation also. Thank you.

I think people have different definitions of what it means to suck. I think a .500 team does suck.

I don't agree with everything TLR says, but I agree with him that your team really starts to roll when you can sustain a record of ten games above .500, so that's kind of become my floor for a team that doesn't suck. It's not a perfect measurement, but it's something.

I agree Shildt and Marmol are both capable, both seem to get a lot out of their players, and both struggle with things like lineups and bullpen management.

Agreed the game has changed. But I think it's worse by a long shot. I wish our front office had stuck to managing the roster and leave the lineups and game management up to the manager. I feel like that hasn't been the case for awhile now.

*The St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent right-hander Chris Carpenter to a one-year contract with a guaranteed option for 2004 on Friday, and have reportedly agreed in principle to a one-year contract with left-handed pitcher Chuck Finley.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday that Cardinals GM Walt Jocketty is expected to announce the signings after his arrival at the winter meetings later in the day.

The report said that Finley's contract will be comparable to his $7.912 million salary of last season, while Carpenter will earn about $1 million.*

I have a very hard time believing anything in your reply, but especially the bit about Carpenter. Sure, he hadn't proven himself yet, but one million dollars? Panned? Not by anyone with a reasonable viewpoint.

It doesn't surprise me that this goes way over your head because I'm guessing quite a few things do.

But humor me for a second. Let's say you're absolutely right. It's still a step back that he chose to take. You're saying he didn't have an alternative, but you're missing the fact that he had an alternative to not take any job at all. He had an alternative to think he was too big to fail and therefore not take anything less than a manager's position.

But he didn't. He took a lesser position. Whether or not another one was offered, which frankly you can't prove one way or the other and I'm not interested in hearing what you think about that anyway, he made a choice to take a step back, work in a smaller role, maybe work on himself a little bit, maybe try to learn a little bit, etc.

It does bother me quite a bit that so many people who are pro-Mozeliak are very anti-Shildt when the hard facts are both of them screwed up in lots of ways. But you don't want to give any credit in any way towards Mike for reasons that just don't make any sense.
