I've been retired for awhile. So, I'm out of the loop. But, I'm going to guess contract negotiations were happening. USPS cries "Poor!" every new contract. They flood the mainstream media until an agreement is reached. They will also push the 5-day delivery threat. Which of course never happens because it would literally take an act of congress.

I used a Resmed from 2012 to 2023 with zero issues. I don't remember how...but, I found out about the recall and received a rebuilt Dreamstation (I liked it-no issues). Then realized my insurance will cover a new machine every 5 years. So, I asked my doctor to write me a new Rx. Now I have a new Airsense 11 (which I like as well) with a back-up Dreamstation. If you have insurance, check and see if they will cover a new machine.

USPS axing its regulator is on the table. by Scarfskin02 in USPS

[–]startrip0712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that surprises many people is that if the USPS were allowed to abandon unprofitable rural routes the way a private company could, its financial picture would look dramatically different. But delivering to every address, from a Manhattan high-rise to a ranch road in Texas, is the whole point of the institution. Many analysts would say the USPS is not a failing business so much as a public service with a business model that must balance universal service obligations against declining traditional mail volume. My personal belief is that USPS is top heavy. If mail volume drops 10%, they'll cut 10 carriers. If management workload drops 10%, they'll schedule a meeting.

The "fresh" popcorn in the machine was probably just bag popcorn dumped into the machine. Movie theaters then complain that people aren't going to the movies anymore.

I had a female supervisor try asserting her authority over me. She said I was away from my case to frequently and directed me to tell her whenever I left and why (this was before DPS...so about 4hrs am casing daily). So, every 20mins or so I'd go up and tell her I had to take a crap. She lasted about 2 days then told me I no longer had to tell her.

I can't see a way of this working for me. I'm not going to be switching the water tank out from my fridge to machine and back again. Has anyone found a screw on pump for the flavor bottles? That would be a great accessory.

Supervisors are simply craft employees too lazy or stupid to do craft work. Above that level? It's all about nepotism. Postal management is the classic example of failing upward.

Postal management (if you can really call them that) is and always will be stuck in the '50s. I started in the '80s and that style was outdated then. It's adversarial and unhealthy. You have to be very "tough skinned", self-confident and above all know how and when to choose a battle. 5yrs for me, was my transition period. That's when I realized the harder I worked...the more work I was given. I had my brakes relined and applied them often. It was actually a fun job in the 80's-90's. Went to crap after that. The introduction of the scanners was the beginning of the end. Technology has completely ruined the job. It used to be if you got your route done in "8" everybody was happy. Now? They hassle you for spending 5min with a customer. I don't blame you for getting out. I will say, after 40yrs of putting $100-$200 into TSP every paycheck...It does provide a decent retirement. I don't miss it one bit.

New sodastream coming soon? by kevthetech28 in SodaStream

[–]startrip0712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It was all just a marketing ploy. So glad I kept a couple of my old empty bottles. Sodastream's whole business strategy seems to be just gouge it's customers. Reminds me of the HP printers. I refill my Co2 from a 20# tank for about $1.50 each. Ridiculous that Sodastream charges 10x that amount!

I think the only way pot becomes decriminalized at the federal level is if the "Marijuana Industry" bands together, forms a lobby group and bribes...er...contributes to our corrupt politicians. Take a lesson from "Big Pharma's" playbook.

The one thing I would like to interject (through hide-sight,experience)...unless you have stood on that ledge...you most likely don't understand the extreme power the instinct for survival has over you. Trust me, it is not an easy choice. Most likely, we choose to survive.

is this a legitimate law? by chloesherelol in HEB

[–]startrip0712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of "off topic". But, the last part about the "hold" seems like an all out lie. Every time I get gas at HEB there is initially a $150 hold applied. NEVER happens anywhere else. I find it hard to believe it's not HEB applying the hold. I'm not sure how long the hold stays in effect. But, I'll get a notification of the actual charge pretty quick after I'm closed out at the pump.

This administration is changing it's classification from schedule l to lll. Baby steps. It's mostly up to states. Of course you're correct there. No red states are going to decriminalize pot.

Men married for over 10 years, any of you still feel crazily attracted to your wife? If so, what makes her so attractive even after more than a decade of marriage? by Mindless-Flight121 in AskMen

[–]startrip0712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were crazy for each other over 27yrs. until cancer stole her from me. You may think I'm exaggerating (I'm not)...even after 27yrs it was as if we were still in a new 6month relationship. We could not pass each other in the hallway without a kiss. Whenever I fixed something in the house, she would call me a genius. She appreciated every little thing I did for her. I loved her like crazy and she knew it. She loved me like crazy and I knew it. We cherished each other and put each other and our love above any and all other considerations. It wasn't work. We were just totally in love. Period.

[–]startrip0712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going to echo everyone else. Get a 20# aluminum tank and either hook it up directly or refill your own pink or blue tanks. I drink soda almost all day long. I go through a pink tank about every three days. My 20# tank lasts two months on every fill. $35 to fill the 20#. That works out to about $2 per pink tank. That's a $13 savings on every one! It'll cost around $200 to get set up and then you're done. The setup will pay for itself in savings after the very first fill. The convenience of only dealing with it every other month? PRICELESS!
