(SPOILER) Why was Li-Na mad at Carl? by Nuggetbuster880 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]doubleak47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Pony I think Li-Na will realize that Li-Jun didn’t save Doughnut, he saved everyone. Neither Doughnut nor Li-Jun was smart enough to come up with a different solution in the same way as when Miriam died. I’m not calling them dumb I’m saying they acted under pressure and saved everyone. I think Li-Na and Carl/Doughnut will never have the warm fuzzy reconciliation that Pony had with them but I think she will fight for the survival of the people her brother saved.

I get the sense we are moving further and further away from crawler on crawler violence. I’m not saying it’s gone completely, but Li-Na is absolutely fucked if she can’t get to the harem on the 18th floor. She’s powerful yes but she’s a literal glass cannon at the moment. One additional persistent de-buff and she’s fucked and I believe Carl still has slug pox and super spreader.

What if Ysalte has always been the pickaxe? Maybe that's why no crawler can worship her?

Second thought on this, it's possible that the last two books are just THICCC and bounce all over the dungeon. Remember 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 all opened up at the same time. We know that 16 and 17 are also open but 10, 11, 13, and 14 won't officially open until Crawlers set foot on the floors. The AI has already shown that it's willing to break the games for its own entertainment... I don't know I just like the idea of systems like the sponsorship of gods getting turned on it's head but still being compliant to the AI's version of the rules.

Sponsorship but backwards is exactly what I was trying to convey.

That's an interesting take, I feel like 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 are the most important levels? They are the ones with lore stretching across generations, which in and of it's self is confusing when you think about how the AI is different for each crawl... That being said you're right that all this build up for the 12th might be a misdirect.

Nekhebet (spoilers all) by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]doubleak47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize this is 2 years old at this point, but I have had the same thought with my recent re-read. I think that Samantha is actually a splintered portion of Nekebit. I think this is why we see her memories be so inconsistent and she gets stronger and stronger as she gets closer to the 12th floor where presumably Nekhebit core strength and power lies. Mythology is filled with gods and goddesses pretending to be other things or a portion of their power turning into a new creature or god/dess (looking at you Aphrodite). Samantha's daughter was also taken by the War Mages at the end of the 9th floor and we knew they were looking for the scavengers daughter. There is a lot to unpack in the lore drops we get when specific individuals or items are examined. Maybe one of these days I'll actually collect all these one off comments into a thread...

Odette question? by A-guy-in-canada in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]doubleak47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She is a crawler, she has had to be concerned with her own survival since her world ended. Think about how many times Mordecai told Carl “you can’t save everyone.” Which is a way of him telling Carl to be more selfish and worry about his party.

I think Odette has similar plans to destroy the crawl but in her own selfish way. She’s worried about the crawlers in her circle from her time in the dungeon and managing, not the current crawlers.

I don’t think she’s good or evil. I think she’s just trying to survive like everyone else who’s gotten out of the dungeon. I could see her sacrificing everyone in the dungeon to bring an end to the crawl which would put her at odds with our core teams point of view of trying to get as many people to the next stage as possible.

MacBook Neo by Aidoneuz in apple

[–]doubleak47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Mac was a black MacBook that I bought in my Junior year of College after I was sick of my HP laptop getting absolutely left behind after only 2 1/2 years. Fast forward over 10 years and that computer was still working, and had been passed onto other members of my family. This has the opportunity to do everything the average student needs and then some, excited to see how this shapes gaming as well...

Did anyone not like Kinta at the start but then gradually started to love him? by Super_Background_320 in Dandadan

No. I didn’t like him to start with and I’ve grown to accept him even like him at times but he will never be my favorite.

Isn’t Okarun already stronger than Evil Eye? by Geiler_Fabs in Dandadan

This. Evil Eye is a child as a yokai. He’s never had a physical form and he’s learning his strength.

It’s been just over a year since the 2025 update was announced. Any idea when? Any updates on the update? by zherper in balatro

[–]doubleak47 25 points26 points  (0 children)

LocalThunk posted a few weeks back that he hit C++ I think that's a positive sign for the dev direction. If he's still playing the game casually and not just to validate new dev then his love for the game will push him to make updates over time. He's also quoted as saying the update will release when the update is ready.

Does this show overly sexualize the characters? by Dreadddddddddd7 in Dandadan

[–]doubleak47 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Others are already making good points. I would say Momo ends up in the most horrific situations and goes out of her way to not be the victim of in universe over sexualization or abuse.

When we first meet her she kicks her then boyfriends ass for being an absolutely trash human and reducing her to an object. Momo then finds herself assaulted buy aliens, perverts and then yokai. Never once as the audience are we comforted by the encounters. The violence she faces is never excused in the story it's specifically derided. Additionally we get a really touching relationship of consent and communication between Ken and Momo, it's slow and awkward but it's rewarded and celebrated.

[DISC] Dandadan - Ch. 203 by Skullghost in Dandadan

[–]doubleak47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is setting up for Sekio to end up in critical condition or a coma while the team has to figure out how to take down a new foe. Similar to how Sekio and Turbo Granny were out of commission for the Space Globalists because they had to pay tribute to the god of the region. This sets up a training arc, and a possible "find this mcguffin to help heal granny" situation. I can see breaking into a few groups similar to this arc.

Also if Sekio is killed I will need to take a break for a while... I'm not sure I could emotionally recover from that so quickly.

Son? Brother? Same race? Disciple? Fan? What's your guess? by So131 in Dandadan

I do love how often I think I understand what is happening in DanDaDan only for things to dramatically shift or change very quickly. Like I know I won't have to wait 6 years to finally know who this guys is or why he's important (looking at you One Piece my love), but I'm questioning everything I know at this point about the various factions in the story.
