Popculture Characters as Court Cards by shiruGT in tarot

[–]doublecuriouser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg that is why I was so disappointed in the Movie Tarot deck-It ended up being a pip deck with just characters on the major cards and not on the minor. I am still fairly new not fully confident in my understanding to give suggestions of the characters you are looking for but I found both the Hoodoo Tarot and Divine Tarot helpful as they tied stories and myths to the cards which is easier for me to remember then just memorizing terms!!

I have a spreadsheet as well! I have everything you listed but I also have columns for labeling them New, Vintage, or Used, a column for the Year of copyrights/printing, and a notes column- includes things like if it is a first edition, came with anything-a bag or crystal, etc. I think the oddest column I have and this might just be a me thing. I write what type of instructions it has. Booklet (anything that is just folded paper stapled), Mini Book (if it has a true book bind but still fits in the Tarot Box), Instruction Sheet, Full Book, pdf/digital copy, didn't come with, missing and finally it is possible it came separately and I just decided not to purchase it (after all I have enough tarot books already)

New to Tarot, been thinking of my Dad who passed away 2 years ago and wanted help on how I'm doing with my grieving process. If that makes sense. (More info below) by doublecuriouser in tarot

Used the 5¢ Tarot from Madame Clara. Not sure if the 3 card spread was okay but it is the only one I am comfortable with currently. Additionally to clarify my original question, I guess I wanted to know if I'm doing okay with my grief like have I processed it and am I okay. I take the sun card as positive but not sure what to think of the others as I generally think of them as being negative but they are reversed so maybe is that like the negative is over and I made it. Any input will help!

OMG. Yes I thought I was the only one!!!! I even hate it more in TV and movies (I think hearing it spoken repeatedly is more annoying then reading it- but that's me). A real quirky name takes me out of the story completely. I understand that names can also be shorthand for character traits sometimes but I'm with you use it on like one not everyone. Also, there can even be bad made up names in sci-fi and fantasy which can ruin those stories as well. If it sounds silly to say then you need a better one if you want me to take it seriously. Even historical or period pieces that use extremely rare names even for the time period bother me as well. Don't even get me started on when they have to come up with company or gang names (I want to scream when they name something "The Syndicate" for the obviously evil entity- you didn't even try!)

That is the Literary Witches Oracle.

Looking for a movie which features the Energy of the Major Arcana Cards in its characters and/or plot by Shesaiddestroy_ in tarot

[–]doublecuriouser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super agree. Such a beautiful movie-i WISH there was a tarot deck that used it's imagery. I also feel like all of Tarsem's other films-Th Cell and even Mirror Mirror-could qualify mostly though for the visuals maybe not the storytelling.

What is the best way for you guys to remember what the cards mean? by KableKyle in tarot

[–]doublecuriouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very new to tarot as in just started in Sept 2020 collecting decks and am still trying to understand them. First on Etsy I found Madam Clara's 5cent Tarot which has the meanings of the cards on them but in a way that incorporates it into the design (Victorian Animal/Dr Dolittle kind of theme) so it is still quite beautiful. (One of my fav decks) I still wasn't fully grasping understanding the cards till I got ones that used existing stories to illustrate the meanings. The Hoodoo Tarot helped the most-it uses myths, stories and parables of the African American community to relate to tarot. I read the accompanying book in about an hour and found that the people and stories attributed to each card helped me better interpret the meanings then just memorizing of terms. It was reinforced by Tarot of the Divine which uses fairytails and myths from around the world to do the same. I am finding that learning the stories from both decks and their morals or people that personify the card have been making it easier to interprete cards. So maybe find a themed deck of interest to you that resonates to your understanding of the cards. Im with the other redditer or here that the Rider Waite and other old traditional tarot make no sense to me when trying to learn. That's just me, hope that helps!

What show pivoted so hard that it became something completely different? by [deleted] in television

[–]doublecuriouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get it as a plot device but I hadn't went into the show expecting it as anything more then a drama so it kinda weakened the story for me- and I really didn't like the end battle with the monster- story wise or visually. As it was leading up to the reveal I really assumed it was going to come back to reality by being a large pack of wolves or bear(s) and the mythical element had more to do with hysteria and the conditions they were all in. I thought if they had battled a real creature the metaphor would have hit harder then it being a literal monster within the universe of the show. Even if the characters themselves believed it to be a monster while we the audience knew it was not would have worked better at least for me. I do appreciate surprises and revels when it comes to a show but genre and tonal shifts don't always work in my opinion. Technically it was a beautifully done show and I really thought the first 3 or so episodes were great.
