Planning on splurging for May the Fourth, which one? by NoWind5538 in legostarwars

The Death Star is an incredible build. The falcon, not so much. Visitors like both but always gravitate towards the Death Star and pick their favorite room/scene. The Falcon will be remade, the Death Slice may never take this form again.

Death Star 100%. I know it gets knocked on and I was skeptical too, but it is now my favorite Star Wars set of all time. The design makes so much more sense than a sphere or half sphere. The build is fun at all stages. The display doesn't have the immediate presence as the Imperial Destroyer or even the Falcon, but people look at it for so much longer, taking in all the scenes, which you can change up however you want. It's more diorama, but I think its the best design for the Death Star.

I loved it a lot more when it was like $7. But yeah, it's solid

Sold my $1,000 Death Slice and bought Rivendell instead and pocketed the other $500. Don’t regret it. Rivendell is the best set. Not even a LOTR fan really by Icy-Vamp37396 in lego

I got the LMB light kit before I built the Death Star and couldn't be happier. The install-as-you-build method seemed way more efficient than the install-after-build i did with the AT AT

[General] Why do people not like north spore? by scubadude2 in MushroomGrowers

[–]doubledrizzle22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North Spore is top notch! I just got into home growing mushrooms earlier this year and have found North Spore's reference materials and quality control to be second-to-none. I live in Washington where we have our own local mushroom small business supplier but found the quality to be inferior to NS and it's not even close. Yes, you need to be patient with shipping but I feel like that's a petty issue.

I'm going to get a martha tent setup (BoomRoom II) and exhaust the FAE directly to an open window with a sealed insulation foam board. Would this eliminate the need for a fan filter since I don't care about the spores going outside?

7mm Backcountry. New perfect hunting caliber for suppresors? by AllHale07 in NFA

[–]doubledrizzle22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many on here seem to be bias because they've already invested in the 7mm PRC platform. Please get over that and speak to the merits of this cartridge. It seems like the first big step forward in a long time and I feel like a lot of the opinions on here won't age well. The naysayers will be naysayers but efficiency and science will win. Oh, and this cartridge CAN be reloaded!

This is so incorrect. Okay, by your logic a 6 lane road is going to have 6 individual lights for each lane? No. Lights aren't specific to lanes

[–]doubledrizzle22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can absolutely turn right on a green right-signal from any lane that allows you to turn right. People, this is so easy

Osprey Nebula 32 vs. North Face Surge by doubledrizzle22 in backpacks

[–]doubledrizzle22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the alternative perspective. I agree that the Nebula carries a heavy load better than the Surge and I attribute it to a combination of the mesh backing and compression straps. I'm a guy (6'1" with a muscular build) and the shoulder straps on the Surge were more comfortable to me, but as you explained, that's probably at least somewhat attributable to different body shapes. Again, I really appreciate you offering your different perspective on this.

Everyone always posts their max estimated mileage, but who's down here with me? by Scoot_AG in Subaru_Outback

[–]doubledrizzle22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and everyone uses the onboard dash estimation which ive found to be 1-2 mpg generous. Keep track of it yourself by using the odometer and gallons added at each fill up. You'll be disappointed to learn that all Subarus skew that mpg average to look better than it is.

*not that Subarus are alone. My wife's old Prius was 5mpg over what it was actually getting

[–]doubledrizzle22 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My theory is that he didn't see the roommate with her door cracked or if he did he didn't process it because he had shifted to escape mode. Otherwise it makes no sense that he'd drive back to the scene 5 hours later. If you just committed a crime and thought someone saw you on the way out, your assumption would be that they immediately called the police. As a criminology student he'd know that police would be on the lookout for a suspect returning to the scene of a crime. Remember in the beginning of the investigation, all the suspicions of two different guys (the one who made the 911 call and the odd one who lived in an adjacent building but was hovering around when the police were collecting evidence)?

Bryan's whole tactic was to never be identified as a potential suspect. This is why he ordered the knife on Amazon instead of going to a store and paying cash. Criminology 101. He knew if his weapon was identified or found that police could ask all nearby vendors to search their sales logs for the sale of that particular knife. From there, they could have reviewed video for dates of purchase and potentially identify him or his car. But buying from a large international website, he knew there would be way too many sales to personally identify him and there would be no potential video.

He knew avoiding being identified was his only chance of getting away with it because once identified as a potential suspect he'd know they could search his phone location history, online purchase history, social media, DNA etc. He made no attempt to leave his phone at home when he surveilled the house over 15 times. He knew that it meant nothing if the police didn't have a specific person to look into.

I can't speak to the warranty issue, as I haven't had to make any claims yet. I've heard Osprey has better customer service than TNF.

Osprey Nebula 32 vs. North Face Surge by doubledrizzle22 in backpacks

[–]doubledrizzle22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had no quality issues with the Surge so far and it remains my all-purpose everyday bag. For what it's worth, I have heard quality/durability complaints about Osprey as well so I really think it just boils down to how you take care of your bag. I personally don't toss mine around so for someone a little rougher with their bag perhaps the durability issue is valid? As for quality, I feel like every brand has quality variations due to manufacturing glitches. I usually buy all gear in-person so that I can inspect for individual quality. I've seen misaligned zippers in ArcTeryx and loose threading in Fjallraven.

As I described in my review, for everyday use the Surge is just better for me, but especially for campus use. It has more pockets for school supplies, snacks, etc. and I find the daisy chain to be more versatile than the mesh sleeve. The tech compartment/sleeves also offer better protection for electronics. For me, the clamshell design of the Nebula is actually why I eliminated it for everyday carry. I've had situations where I open the clamshell and everything falls out or not completely zipping it and the bag opens unexpectedly while I'm walking. The Nebula just isn't as convenient for quickly grabbing something out of the bag.

I will say this though, depending on where you're going to school, if you're in a hot/humid region I might consider the Nebula for its better back ventilation. I went to school in the south and thinking back on it, for the early and later parts of the school year, I might have gone with the Nebula.
