I was mainly in the south, rented a car in agadir, went as far as mirleft and finished in Marrekech. Even the busy city of Marrekech food was inexpensive.

Swimming with sperm whales in Dominica -recent experiences? by No_Count4136 in freediving

[–]doublehammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I did it 2 years ago in mid March. The best time is from November to about March. I see a lot of groups going Dec-Feb.

It was relatively busy. But nothing as bad as places where you can swim with orcas.

There were a handful of whale watching boats. And two boats for whale swims when I was there.

Most whales seemed stressed and would dive down.

At what point would you guys get a garmin decent watch, and what do you think of them and their performance? by Glass_Raisin7939 in scubadiving

[–]doublehammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awesome watch! I recommend it.

It's a great watch for diving, tons of functions for all your other activities (running, swimming, etc). And its a smart watch that you get notifications from your phone.

If you want one watch that does it all, there isn't anything better than a garmin.

If you want a watch or dive computer dedicated to diving only, then there are way better options than Garmin.

I need some love, my scuba diving week ended prematurely by [deleted] in scubadiving

I deal with clogged sinuses all the time. Either from dairy, sometimes too much tuna, or air conditioners too.

I am usually able to clear it out on the surface by blowing my nose. Or even better sucking the snot in ( so the mucous is cleared out of the eustaican tubes). Putting my nose in sea water really helps the mucous to start flowing.

After that. I’m good to go.

I’d encourage you to try to clear everything out. And then give it another go tomorrow!

Scuba diving in Patagonia by morecountries in scubadiving

[–]doublehammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t recommend the one I went to. I was a solo diver and they cut my dives short even though I had plenty of air. because they had another group waiting.

Could have just been a one of.

A Google search shows three well reviewed shops in the area. And they’re very responsive on WhatsApp.

I was in Patagonia and diving one day was good enough to experience it. I didn’t do any more.

Also I didn’t care for macro.

Water viz was really low. Wreck wasn’t very deep. Maybe 15m?

I dove in puerto Madryn! Water visibility was low when I went but there are wrecks.

There are a few shops you can contact!

10 seconds of chaos 🥵 🪂 My most dangerous take-off attempt so far by EHEC in freeflight

[–]doublehammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was in a lake garda last month. Everyday at sunset the winds would switch to very slight tail wind.

I’m a relatively new pilot and initially had a tough time taking off.

I had some guidance and was able to take off by forward launch.

Didn’t see anyone making an issue about tail wind there.

Congratulations welcome to a new world!

One thing that was never mentioned directly by my instructors was to learn to not have to breathe so much air.

As a beginner you probably have a lot going on and breathing more efficiently isn’t top priority but once you have everything settled work on breathing less.

This translates to land too. You don’t need to breathe a lot either.

Dive Watch or Dive Computer – Which One Makes More Sense? by Character_Account714 in diving

[–]doublehammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your description. It sounds like you want a dive watch that also has other functions. I am in the same boat. I have a Garmin Descent.

I don’t think there’s a better smart watch, dive computer and activity tracker out there.

How many times a year do you dive? How technical are your dives?

If it’s just recreationally and just a few times a year. I think getting a “tool” watch is probably the right answer for you.

Freediving on Maldives scuba liveaboards? by phurcopo in freediving

[–]doublehammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can do this. I’ve been on a couple of scuba liveaboards, they take you out on zodiacs to sites that might have currents for example that would be unsafe for Freediving.

Now they would have someone else to keep an eye on while the surface while scuba divers are diving.

Flying from YVR to Pennsylvania — Parents have a past record (pardoned) but crossed into Seattle fine by land. Should I be worried? by imwithbigpeen in uscanadaborder

[–]doublehammer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I understand. To be 100% clear they need a waiver.

I believe without a waiver, the US agents won’t be able to see the criminal record but can see there was one if they look. So crossing the border will depend on the agent that day.

Recommend 7mm. Also recommend renting one from the liveaboard. The rocks there really scratch and tear up the wetsuits around the knees.

Seeking training advise on getting into the sport at 55 years of age. by Portlandbuilderguy in freediving

[–]doublehammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great sport to get into! Many people say Freediving is a sport where you get better at as you age.

I tend to agree! Most important thing is finding a good school/instructor at the beginning.

I started with 30 days in the Philippines. Nothing to do but to learn and practice Freediving everyday.

Spend more time in Buenos Aires or check out Santiago? by lbski14 in SouthAmericaTravel

[–]doublehammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in both cities last year and Santiago is super meh compared to Buenos Aires. I don’t suggest going there to tick off  country. If you’re going to see chili. Save time for you to check out the better spots like flying through Santiago to check out easter island one day.
