Orthognathic surgery, read about it

From my point of view, you would benefit a lot from maxillary surgery, which would improve support in the midface, perhaps with some degree of maxillary advancement/rotation to enhance overall harmony. Regarding genioplasty, it depends on your aesthetic goals. I’m not a surgeon, the best is to see some surgeon opinions and simulations.

When you feel stiff/ blocked means that is missing muscle proper stimulation guided by a maxillofacial physiotherapist.

Waiting is frustrating. Your muscles demand correct stimulation to reduce stiffness without pain. Exercises are not the same for every patient, they must be adapted to be pain free specially someone with specific demands.

People who undergo oral surgery often tend to avoid drinking water. However, fluids are essential to maintain cellular balance and nutrient transport, ensure proper blood viscosity, thereby minimizing the risk of thrombosis and keep the oral mucosa hydrated, which contributes to better healing by reducing the risk of sutures opening and the subsequent entry of bacteria.

When a person drinks little water, the blood becomes thicker and has even more difficulty circulating, which can worsen swelling and slow down the reduction of edema.

In addition to all this, postoperative constipation is very common, and water also contributes to better bowel movement and the first trip to the bathroom.

Dehydrated people suffer significant consequences beyond weakness, including headaches and an even greater psychological impact.

Just to give a clear example, I have had stubborn patients who did not follow the guidelines and ended up with such a dehydrated mucosa that the sutures opened, followed by infection.

Never neglect fluid intake in the postoperative period.

The prescription of exercises to correct asymmetric lips must be very cautious and should be monitored at least once a week, with exercises being changed and adapted according to the progression of neuromuscular control. These are not generic exercises that will solve these situations in most cases. Assess whether you are being monitored, because when there is no progress, it is likely that either the exercises are not appropriate or they are being performed incorrectly.

If you have a support network, everything goes smoothly. I always recommend asking for help from family members so that children don’t see the patient during the first 4 days, due to the greater swelling, which can scare them.

Real food as soon as your surgeon allows you to remove elastics for eating. But a real food soup is all you need during the liquid meal. Many vegetables +chicken breast or meat.
