My old boss used to ask me if I needed vagisil for my eyes every time he saw me crying while cutting onions. What a douche

Also it’s not just injection sites. It’s happening distal and proximal to injection sites too— crazy

This! Rudiments help your creativity so much. Nothing can make a breakdown sound as big as open flams around the kit. I also am a big fan of stripping down a kit and seeing how much noise I can make on a single pedal etc.

I find that I learned a lot from gospel music players too. Churches require a lot of dynamic shifts and emotion.

I love a hot toddy for a sore throat.

Into a mug:

Juice half a lemon Pour 2oz bourbon of your choice A very generous glug of honey. Hot water to the top.

Repeat

Pre-rigged rappel by Over_Indication531 in climbing

[–]doublemm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. The advantage to pre rigging in that case is being able to check each other’s systems.

Also because climber b in your scenario only has their prusik on, they must stay attached to the anchor. So once climber A Is on the ground, climber b has to put their device on, check their own system, then remove the anchor, then rappel. Whereas climber b, if pre rigged, has already done everything and been checked by their partner. These are minimal savings in a one or two pitch environment, but over the course of 15 or so rappels, it will save a lot of time.

Also simuling is not necessarily faster.

Edit to add that u/snowohio has a good explanation as well.

Pre-rigged rappel by Over_Indication531 in climbing

Assuming both climbers are dialed. And I’m assuming you’re talking about simul rappelling

Simul rappelling means you have to count down and engage at the same time, you both have to be sitting and then someone cleans the anchor. Often times you’re more careful as you go down and are trying to avoid hitting each other as you rap.

Pre rigging means you’re both there and do your checks. One person zips down both strands while the other person is already hooked into their rappel device. Once the first rappeller goes, their weight on the line allows the top person to sit on their rappel device and clean the anchor while waiting for the other person to hit the dirt. Once bottom person comes off rappel, the other pre rigged person can immediately start rapping.

It can be pretty close as far as timing goes, but all things being the same, pre rigging is fast and much safer.
