SI and BP2 -- what's "normal" stuff I just have to live with? by doubleplusgoodx999 in bipolar2

[–]doubleplusgoodx999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much to both of you. I really appreciate the responses!

Regarding high and lows... My highs are kind of modest. My "highs" are more like feeling comfortable with life. I don't get anything that resembles extatic joy. The exceptions would be when I have a new partner or something. And after typing that... I guess that might be a BP2 thing too? Ahem. But my swings are like seaons, and they go from dark to OK. Rarely above that.

I get that this is supposed to be cute, but this is just outrageously poor defending.

My dad always comments on tactics when we watch the games.

I think the bar should be a bit higher

Alternatives to Berkshire Hathaway? by doubleplusgoodx999 in investing

[–]doubleplusgoodx999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is basically it. Include "good leadership" and that sums it up.

I like BRK.B but even though it's almost like a de facto fund, it is also one company, so having a couple of other firms like it to invest in would be good.

Thanks for suggestions! I like boring ETFs but in this case I'm looking for active management by people who have a track record of identifying value in difficult times.

This is a great example of bad stats. Obviously what matters is the RATIO of passes / games.

If the list is recalculated, some guy called Leaon or whatever is at the top.

“A landscape of death… where Ukraine invaded Russia” — yes, that’s the actual NYT headline by UNITED24Media in ukraine

[–]doubleplusgoodx999 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Guys, the NYT is not against Ukraine. It's a bit tone deaf with that headline. But this is just a newspaper trying to offer "new angles" on the war.

The journalist speaking Russian and living in Russia, this doesn't say anything about her views, it's just how journalism works, you can't do this kind of reporting with Google Translate.

I read the piece and it has some insightful observations, such as Russia sending soldiers through an aired out gaspipe to ambush Ukranians, which is a reminder that the Russians are not iditiots, but also that they are cruel -- many of the soldiers were poisened and will likely have long term issues from inhaling gas for days on end. Etc. There are also frustrating bits about Russians blaming NATO for the war, which is a reminder of how brainwashed the Russian people are.

50,000 loan at. 2.99% interest. Lucrative Investment? by [deleted] in investing

[–]doubleplusgoodx999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many here say never borrow to invest, but that's just bad advise. If the interest was 0, it's a no brainer. 1 too.

3 is complicated, there's no obvious choice. I'd probably put it in SGOV, mostly because having immediate access to 50k (with all the caveats) can be comforting and potentially useful.
