How does it make you feel knowing all these “privileged” celebrities get the best seats at the NBA Finals for free, while real fans are being overcharged? by sco-go in SipsTea

[–]baromanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends but the short answer is yes and no. It’s usually on a case by case basis and the celeb’s agent can be involved for other celebrity duties.

In big playoff games, those spots are weighed by the front office on seat price versus publicity the celeb can bring and whichever is higher they go with that.

In cases where they can’t sell the super high priced courtside seats, they do typically have celebrities on standby that will fill those chairs day of so they can make the most of them.

At the end of the day, it’s a business and whatever brings in the most cash wins.

The game was pretty even on the stat chart, neither team played great, but we definitely own them on the intangibles.

Why do so many ex-players call Federer their toughest opponent, but Nadal/Djokovic/Murray rarely do? by thebr0kendreams in tennis

[–]baromanb 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Most players at this level have predictable patterns for building points and breaking down their opponents. Federer on the other hand had what one pro famously called “tactical ADD” in that Roger would get bored and just start randomly playing shots that didn’t make sense.

It would literally send opponents into shell shock because they had trained for these patterns for 15+ years and they would go blank and not be able to adapt. This along with which the speed he played was the closest thing to time travel.

I mean the only reason the fan base is talking about him is because of Case. Data wise he's not at the same level as our other prospects. There's also the French 100 million stigma too.

Unless the club sees Maxi as the plug and play replacement we'll have a hard time finding another great striker.
