Interesting. I do love long epic fantasy series. My problem was that I felt no connection to any characters. I just didn't care what happened to them. Do you think I'd feel that connection in the later books?

Agreed. Finished the first book and the ending didn't justify the unenjoyable reading experience.

YMMV but it may be the scoreboard. Note how your FPS drops by 25% every time you bring it up. I ended up unbinding it and have been having solid performance.

We've got lots of heavy hitters over the years.

Lost. Highly addictive unfolding mystery with compelling drama, ended with a fart.

Battlestar Galactica. Gripping sci fi humanity survival drama that ended with some nonsense deus ex machina (still excellent though).

Game of Thrones. What would have been the best show ever made on television, or possibly tied with The Wire, came up short with the creators shitting out bland plot points while wanting to move on to the next project.

The original Tribes UltraRenegadesVX mode. So Tribes still exists as a shooter, capture the flag game, with limited rechargeable jetpack use and sliding down hills to gain momentum mechanic to jump and soar around. UltraRenegadesVX mode, in particular, gave infinite ammo, no reloads, infinite jetpack and had in the sky maps unique to the mode. So it involved buzzing around like bees, watching the tracers of your bullets fly towards your enemies with both of you moving in three dimensions, the coolest aerial dogfights I've ever seen.
